Ideas On Dermot.

My mare swells and gets lymphangitus on excessive protein i just feed high fibre cubes with a general vit and min supplement and have to watch her when she changes grazing and 1st comes in at night over the winter and i add hayledge. The best way i have found to get rid of swollen legs is turn out, also found increasing the oil in my mares diet helped.
Would definately speak to the vet and make sure there is nothing under lying though.
 
I'd say infection myself, you said the vet shed no light? Did they come and see him or not or did you just chat on the phone? My mares legs were like that a few years ago, the vet found a few old scabs and sugested it was an infection that had entered through the scabs. In the end(the antibiotics made no difference) it turned out to be her tendon(she was never lame), but still, get a well respected vet to have a look.
