for my horse that has now been in the stable for 3 months. In January he was kicked and treated for a suspected fracture to the radius. He was cross tied for a month and re xrayed where the vet decided it was not a fracture just a bad blow. He stayed in for a 3 more weeks, was re xrayed and all looked fine. He had his final x rays last week to sign him off but these showed there had been a fracture after all and he is now in for at least another month. He is 100% sound and he is allowed to be worked quietly (ha ha!) but he not allowed in the field in case he turns suddenly on the leg.
At the moment he is being lunged for 20 mins in the morning, hacked at lunch time and hand grazed in the evening. I am not riding him in the school as he feels so good the temptation would be to do too much!
I did lunge him over poles this morning.
Can anyone help with ideas on how to keep him supple in the work and also keep his intrest?
Also, I really need him not to behind the verticle as this is his prefered way of going but as you can imagine riding him on a long rein is not an option!
Any ideas would be great.
