hi guys..... im a bit of a worry wort i suppose and was just wondering what you guys do?

when out hacking alone or in company do any of you have a safety net to keep the horse from running off if you fall off?

eg and devices etc

A friend has a beaded string ( not describing it very well) that clips onto her D ring on her saddle, on onside of the beads is her horses name and down the other her mobile number should they ever part company.

I tend to carry a packet of Polo's, luckily unless she was being chased she just comes to a stop and looks at me when I fall off and if it's a spook she always returns back or goes to graze ( typical cob). Carrying my phone and both pony and me are dressed in Hi-viz :)

I'm forever recommending these to people on here but think they are just fab. I have one on the saddle whenever I go out and it always puts my mind at ease as it contains every detail under the su: http://www.unicornleather.co.uk/horse_locatas.html

However I learnt from a young age/evil pony that the easiest way is to not fall off / cling on forever when I do - even when I really should have let go as I've had some horrendous injuries from being dragged along at high speed!
I also always wear hi viz so that if I get thrown anywhere unconscious, I will hopefully be seen. Always make sure that the horse has lots of hi-viz too in case she gets loose on a road, so that people have the best chance of spotting her. I'm always getting told that I'm paranoid but would rather be safe than sorry, it's my worst nightmare to be riding alone and come off to see my horse disappearing over the horizon without me - she's not loyal enough to wait for me or be enticed by treats!

I have a tag on the saddle - bright red dog tag - with phone numbers of riders, vets, and address and phone number of livery yard

ETA - and LOTS of hi viz on both horse and rider ;)
