Ideas please, what can I have made with 2 horse shoes?

For reasons I am not ready to go into I have 2 front horse shoes (hand made to fit by the farrier) and would love him to make a gift for the owner of the horse out of the shoes, maybe something practical? farrier is on holiday till tuesday next week so am hoping for ideas in the meantime.

does anyone have any ideas/suggestions?

weld them together and attach hooks at the bottom for a coat hanger ... pop some felt on the bottom for coasters ... turn them into picture frames ... create a tack room sign with them incorporated into it ... paint them metallic gloss black and tie a ribbon through the top for a wall hanging type thing ... urm ... boot scrape ...
 
some lovely ideas, am especially liking the thought of book ends, any links to pics of ideas?

can't be anything for the yard, needs to be something in the home.

I did wonder if a bottle holder would be possible, would be nice if something could be made with out actually changing the shape of the shoes (I know this complicates things) as she wont be having anymore
