About four years ago I bought a small piece of land (2 acres) near to my house. I bought it mainly as an investment, but have used it each year from about May to October to turn out a couple of youngsters. It gets quite wet in Winter, and wouldn't like to have horses out then as I would only see them in daylight at the weekends.
Basically, this year my two youngest homebreds are 3yr olds so will be staying at friends yard with stables and menage to be broken, although they will probably have a break at some point, but the land will not be used much.
Just wondered if anyone had any ideas of ways to use it to make some money to help fund the eventing. Don't just want to rent it out for grazing as it would get trashed quite easily and wouldn't bring in much money for only 2 acres.
Any ideas welcome, thanks for getting this far!!

I'm sure someone would pay to park a few caravans on it- bit of tarmac here and there and job done

. What about grazing for sheep? they are quite light on the ground

make some hay or haylage? car boot sales? caravan storage? caravan park for holidaying (might need planning for this) rent it to a dog agility club?

Would probably need re-fencing for sheep which would be expensive but dog agility and Christmas trees might be possibilities.
Can you just have a car boot sale or do you need some sort of license?
Thanks, keep the ideas coming

Caravan Club site (you may have to provide water and somewhere for them to empty their toilet waste but presume as you're just next door)..or grow your own hay.

Re the car boot I think you can w/o permission for so many weekends a year BUT they're quite expensive to run as you'd need insurance.

I think dog agility is good
And if you have the equipment or a friendly farmer who can mow it for you, Id think hay/haylage is good as can possibly allow you to have a storage (when appropriate) of feed for your youngsters when they return!
