My mare has a habit of pushing against her door at times, she literally goes a step back and rams forward, not as hard as she could but enough to make a point!

I was thinking of putting something on her side of the door but a bit stuck on what to try. They are normal opening monarch type stables so not a lot to screw into or attach to as the wood isn't as thing as a wall. I'm not sure that a stall guard would be strong enough to use while i am there.

Any ideas would be great.

We had a horse that did this. A big lump of draught cross. He bent the door by leaning and sitting on it.

We changed his stable and put a grill over the door. Job done.

Could you attach some stiff broomheads somehow? If nothing to screw to maybe rig one up with a couple of hooked brackets that could be hung over the door as you leave?

Or leave a hooked bucket over the door with some water or a salt lick in, this will make the bucket heavier and serve a purpose too

You can plastic spiked strips that screw on. They're designed to stop cat and scummy people climbing over fences etc. The tips are pretty sharp but would be easy enough to chop a little of to make it uncomfortable rather than damaging. I've seem them used by pigeonfanciers but they're possibly available at B&Q.

If their paddocks have electric fencing just put a piece of tape across the door with a handle on.
She should respect it, if not connect a energiser on to it for the day, she'll learn.
