Hi all
Hoping some of you knowledgable folk might be able to help.

At my current livery yard, the horses are in individual turnout. Not my preference, but that's what it is.

The YO oversowed one of my paddocks, which had housed another horse before mine and which had been turned out 24/7 over the past horrendous summer and therefore had eaten all the grass down.

I had a walk down it today and put some electric fencing on, as didnt want my horse to have full access to it all to start with as it looked fairly lush. On inspection, it is more flowers and herbs than grass!!

Can anyone recommend a good book/internet source of identifying the plants as I want to make sure it is all safe for her to eat. Actually quite happy that there is variety as i know this is better for horses...but there is an awful lot I can't identify!!

Collins guide to wild flowers. Most of the herbs are in there, and its colour coded, so ragwort is in the yellow section to give you an idea. It has photos rather than drawings, which I find very helpful.

I've always used the Francis Rose wildflower key as a good one for comprehensive ID, drawing are good too so it's possible to ID just through scrolling the pics. Flowers in our field are daisies, buttercups, selfheal, clover, chickweed, knotgrass (in the bad areas, horses still eat it though!) birds foot trefoil, black medick and I can't think of any others right now!
