Just passed 3 horses out riding on the roads. First one not a scrap of hi viz, seconda sheet but ccouldn't see until parralel and last nothing. The cars around here are driving flat out and a fair few skidding frequently. I wouldnt be out at all... But with no hi viz in this?

You honestly couldnt see them early on with the grey murky foggy weather. I shook my head at both without hi viz (although admittedly they thanked us for crawling past) and smiled at the hi viz one.
 
Not only a danger to themselves and their horses, but a serious danger to drivers and pedestrians alike.

Selfish prats.
 
Sadly followed by numerous pedestrians out in black in the road... Including one pushing a pram :/ and the number of cars without lights is staggering.

What has amazed me is how badly everyone is driving, seem to be worse driving than normal in worse conditions. Yet the number of cars we are passing in ditches is doing nothing to make other drivers more sensible. The small villages seem to be a free for all and no speed limits being observed.

We've had a muck around on private country lane and in a field but sod doing it through a village :(
 
You must live near me ! They just will not use it around here b- idiots.
I do think it would be wise for dog-walkers, cyclists, motorbikers etc to wear it too.
 
Jesus, never fails to amaze me.

We took the horses out on a foggy day last week. We waited until the fog had lifted as much as possible, wore every scrap of hi vis we could find and got off roads and onto tracks ASAP!!
 
I've been out hacking, roads fairly clear here and I am under veterinary instruction to do road trotting, though to be fair had my high vis on and my flashing waistcoat.
 
I live in a very quiet area for traffic, 3/4 vehicles a day is busy, although both horses are great in heavier traffic, I always wear hi viz, as do the horses, no one rides my horses without it, we approached a large dark lump on route to work last week (6 am) couldn't make out if it was a loose horse, a car with no lights, we were nearly on top of it before realising it was a group of 3 cyclists, the rear one did have a back light, hidden by his backpack, was wearing hi viz, which was so old/dirty it didn't reflect anything.
Surely they would check their gear
 
Don't get me started on cyclists! The clubs around here aren't too bad for viz And lights but ride on both sides of the roads and i've passed more than a couple after dark recently all in black on bmx bikes on the a roads.

Mjcssjw2... I wouldn't had minded so much if these guys were visible but they weren't. No hi viz on front or rear horse and really didn't notice them. There were really bad drivers out today on poor conditions and they really did nothing to make themselves stand out. I was quite surprised how blended they were actually... 3 bays but couldn't see them against snow as just blended with the hedge beside them.

Now if they had been grey? What would have happened then??
 
My point was that I was surprised they blended in so much in all the snow. Why don't you try wandering into a thread you want to comment in rather than annoying people in ones you obviously have an issue with... Unless you were one of the Muppets...
 
must admit some horses really do blend in it is frightening really.

I moved to a dressage yard years ago and used to hack out regularly, the lady that owned the yard passed us one day, when i got back to the yard the low sun was totally blocking me and the horse out and she couldn't see us till really late, after that always try and wear some bright bits!
