IF 510 Pajero combo- advice please!!!

I've got an Ifor Williams 510 classic trailer and have been looking at a short wheel base Pajero- spec says it'll tow 2500kg but wanted to know if any of you fine people have experience/ advice re towing with short wheel base. My horse 16.1hh and weighs around 550kg. What do you think?? Thanks

Hi I have a 2.8 SWB pajero and tow an Ifor 505 with a 17hh and a 15hh with no problems at all. Hardly notice the trailer.

I miss my SWB 2.8 pajero...........stupidly upgraded for bigger boot space and I do not like it as much!!

Oh and towed a 17:3hh and a 15hh - no problems

If you are looking at the older ones go for the 2.8 version rather than 2.5!!

Go onto the Mitsubishi owner club and read reviews on some of the issues that seem to affect all pajeros's - mine had an inherint issue with the fuel pump ( basically engine would cut out after 2 miles ) £350 later and it was sorted.

Only ever heard good things about them.

With a 16.1hh horse you could get away with a ifor williams hb505, slightly smaller and lighter making it a bit easier.

Good advice to look on the owners club site. You can find out what to look out for & if it goes wrong there are good tips on where to get parts at good prices.

My 2.8 swb was brilliant - reliable, relatively cheap towing, and it coped with two big horses up in a large Pegasus trailer including up very steep hills.

Don't touch the 2.5 I had the 2.8 an IW 510 and two 17h+ heavy hunter - didn't even feel them on the back! Even on the motorway up some big hills!
