I can see the problem with marketing him as a hunter but would it not be an option to market him as a J/A jumper in the US? If he'll jump around reasonably, especially for a kid or an amateur the tail won't bother anyone. From where you are it would seem a lot easier to ship him to somewhere in the Southern states - where there are some big horse show markets - than the UK, wouldn't it?
I was going to say the same thing. The hunter and equitation type jumping would be out cos of the tail thing, but just for show-jumping he would be great. If he didn't have that lovely big white face, I know someone who would love a chestnut jumping machine with white legs. But she is a bit of a snob and I don't think the face would sell him to her. I will send her those jumping vids though, just in case!
I would say he's not quality enough for county level, but would do fine local level, and if he jumps then of course could be a SJer but a lot of people would be hesistant to import from so far unless he was amazing!!
