She’s not a big fan of fly masks, but her eyes can get a bit bothered by flies, so she’s trialling a new Rambo Plus fly mask to see how she gets on with it. It does look like she’s wearing a space helmet.
Tammy says that those who laugh last, laugh loudest .
Bless her, she really wasn’t happy wearing it. It could be that she didn’t like the detachable nose cover bit, so I took that off. It was also a bit snug fitting (‘horse’ size) so I looked up getting her the next size up, only to find that there isn’t a larger size! She’s in between full and extra full in normal bridles so her head isn’t too huge, but that’s that.
So the senior mare has unexpectedly been given a new hat, and she is perfectly happy with it. They’re a good design, it’s just fussy T who dislikes wearing any hat. She already has an Equilibrium one, they give pretty decent clearance for the eyes but not as good as the Rambo’s.
CT, I have an ancient Cashel mask and it’s really good, but when I last looked they didn’t seem to be readily available in the UK.
I've had one for one of my boys for a while..after about a year the plastic rod across the eyeline started to poke through. I just removed it, the design still means it holds the mesh out! It's expensive but has worked well.
The hat situation is finally sorted out to everyone’s satisfaction.
Last chance saloon for getting Tammy to tolerate any hat was the Equilibrium field relief midi in grey. She had a black one which she hated, so I thought maybe she’d prefer a grey mesh to peer through. She does.
The younger mare was given the Rambo Plus fly mask, but she hated it too! She’s happily out in her ancient Cashel mask.
The senior retired mare has officially been given the Rambo mask, which she is delighted about as she rarely gets anything new these days. Delighted, that is, unless the mask is fitted with its detachable nose cover, which is NOT all right and results in much snorting and striking out. No one tell her that the mask is a tad large especially over the ears, it doesn’t rub or slip so it’ll do.
