Talking to my friend this evening and I said about how I want a donkey when I get my own land when I'm all growed up (in my dreams  ) He said he didn't see the point. I said I'd break it to harness and go to shops in it :) and it would be lovely and small children could come and ride it and it would wear a lovely straw hat just because :p and he said I was silly...so please can anyone who has a donkey send a photo or two to prove him wrong! :)
p.s. preferably wearing a straw hat while in harness ;)

Go to google images and search for "Donkey in trousers". Makes me grin every time. Apparently they put them on to protect the legs from insect bites!

There is something about leading a donkey on a rope that makes even naughty people like me feel religious!!! :D

This is my 33 year old donk, feeling the cold when we had the cold snap winter 2009/10. A new warm rug was on the way but had to improvise with a sleeping bag :) I have had him for 25 years and he is such a character, no chance of breaking him to harness though, I struggle to get him to walk for 5 paces if he doesn't want to.:p

On a more serious note, if you do consider getting a donkey please make sure it has company, they hate being on their own.

haha he does look very snuggly in there :)
A lady my mum used to ride for had a donkey who wore trousers. He suffered terribly from mites, so they decided to make him some. They took two of her husbands shirts, cut the sleeves off, popped them on his legs, tied with a ribbon over his back and the cuffs buttoned round his fetlocks :p He was such a cutie!
But yes, I've been warned they need company at all times, in my little dream my donkey will be companion to my old pony (who of course I will buy back!)
