Yesterday my nervous little sister did her first jump in 12 years!!!!
She has also only ridden 2 or 3 times in the past 12 years too.
It started a month or 2 ago when she asked if she could ride my young TB mare, it was out of the blue and I was shocked! My sister used to have a pony when she was a small child and used to jump very occassionally but she lost her confidence and ended up giving up horses completely when she was about 11.
Since then she has ridden once or twice my mums old ex eventer (RIP brave murphy) but he was the only horse she even vaguely trusted and when he passed away there was nothing she would ride. That was until the day she asked to ride my Vayamos. She got on board was a bit wobbly at first but my girl looked after her and she even managed a short canter.
Anyway yesterday out of the bue she decided she wanted to jump our old schoolmaster (who she has never ridden as she has been to scared to ride him in the past). At first she was very frightened but after doing some poles she ventured over some cross poles. She did AMAZINGLY well, she even managed some walk to canters
I cant believe how well she did considering so is so nervous and has never really jumped much. What makes it more special is that my sister has health issues as well so she did sooooooooo well and was so brave.
She just clicked with Herbilicious who isn't the easiest horse to ride and I could tell my mum was so proud. Below is a picture of her jump.
well done sis
