1. Last week I got concussed from a horrible and very painful fall on the head, and am still sporting black bruises across the nose from that.

2. Last night my horse behaved in an appalling and very dangerous manor at a low key flatwork training event I took him to, and two of my trainers who witnessed both agreed and told me it's time to get rid of him now, enough is enough. We've spent 18 months of doing everything right, and are putting so much into him, but he has a Jekyll and Hyde character, and when he gets excited he loses all reason. A child could hack him around the streets, but someone like Mary King wouldn't even want to ride or handle him out at even the quietest of flatwork clinics :( I don't want to get rid of him. I don't know who would want him and I'd constantly worry about his welfare if I did sell him, because he's 17.2hh, very sensitive, isn't cheap to keep, and is dangerous for anything apart from hacking round the village. He's bombproof hacking alone on the roads, (unless he see's a group of schoolchildren which in his mind are groups of horse eating predators).

3. This morning my dog (who I love more than life itself) got run over. She's still alive and has not apparently broken any bones, but she's at the vet's undergoing clean up and tests as her heart rate isn't normal, and her head is quite bashed and she is very disorientated so might have concussion.
She’s 2 years old, and she chased a rabbit along the river and got separated from my husband. Then she ran 5 miles towards home on her own until she crossed the road where she was hit.

My main priority is now the health of my dog though.

Oh no, your poor dog :( .... she was doing well to be close to home and then that happens. I hope it just turns out to be a headache and nothing worse.

I won't comment on the horse as having been in a similar situation myself, I know how demoralising and disheartening it all is.

Poor you, that sounds like a reall cr*ppy week.

But - sounds like your dog will be ok and you're head is still attached to your body. No idea for the horse though;)

I hope you have a better weekend :)

That's horrid, I hope your poor dog recovers :( These things definately come in threes, so hopefully that's your lot...

This is my precious girl. Not heard from the vets yet. No news is good news though I suppose.

Is she an English Pointer? She is beautiful. I do hope you hear from the vets soon.

I have German Pointers and they are terrible when they are on a chase, they completely lose their bearings and then start yelping until we find them.

Yes quirky, she is an English Pointer. You are right about their chase drive. We are so careful with her, and my husband takes her for 2 hour joggs every morning. She's usually very obiedient - for a Pointer! They were miles away from any roads when she disappeared from him. When she lost my husband she headed back for home.

She's back home now, battered, bruised, and raw, but a very lucky dog.

My horse...well I don't know. I'm too exhausted to worry about that. He is good to hack and school at home, so that is fine for the time being, but I can't see how I'll ever be able to compete him.
