Which websites do you look at?
Do you look in any magazines or do you only look on the web? If so, which mags?
Or do you only look locally- i.e tack shop noticeboards.
Or do you only look in dealers yards/go via word of mouth?

Thank you in advance!

Free Ads, Horse Quest, word of mouth, PC website and PC parents/ riders.
Word of mouth is best though- how we've got some of our nicest horses....

i have a dealer who is local to me, who always seems to have what we want!! from my sons first pony, to a horse he jumped european viewing trials on. but i would still look at one that was recomended to me, but im wary of private sellers, as if something does go wrong i have no come back

Everywhere really!

Monkeynuts is right though. If you but privately you have no come back from the Sal of Goods Act. Try to buy through a dealer. Get recommendations first to find your yard. I have found Overa Farm Stud to have the most useful website. It explains your rights when buying from a dealers and should be the type of yard you are looking to buy off.
They hold competitions and have a good local customer base.

(I do not work for them btw- I did my dissy on buying horses and the sale of goods act!)

Nothing like a local word of mouth. If the horse is good, shouldn't need much advertising. Off the tinternet , have a look at how long the advert has been there. I like looking at horsequest, I'm not in the market , I just find the easiest to look at. Top of the page is the most recently added.

Thanks guys-
Just to say- I'm not looking for a horse, I am trying to sell- just trying to suss out the best places/ways to advertise/find the right buyer !

Horsequest and the Pony Club website are my favourites because there is room for lots of detail and photos which usually answer most of your questions. The H&H ads are too brief really to give full details of what a competition horse has done.

I am just in the middle of selling one of these! Have tried Horsequest and got some response but found that they quickly 'slip down' the webpage.

Advert going into this week's H&H, the deal for horses priced between 3 & 5K is quite a good one.

I had the most responses from Horsequest by FAR. However, I looked everywhere, but Horsequest, Horse deals and H&H were where I found things to ring up about!!!

First & foremost HorseQuest / H&H - esp as HQ has quite a few wanted adverts up. So HQ has two benefits really.

I put up a wanted advert and that is how my horse found me, so really recommend.

Though if you can get ads up on RC classifieds. Word of Mouth, esp via trainers / posters in your lorry windows at competitions etc.
