Where would you go to buy it and what would it be?

I'd be off to the continent stalking the british show jumping riders to see where they buy their top horses from !!! Where DO they find them???

However with 50k I would probably be looking at entry level...

I would search the hunting field/team chases/and p2p's for a big brave bold xc horse that can jump the moon (pref a gelding) and then spend the rest of my 50k getting William F-P to school it's sj and d up to scratch for me so I can event it! hahahahhaha having 50k would give me the opertunity to get a pro to do all the initial hard work

(then I would try to ride it and fall off, so what's left of my budget would be on hospital fees!!!!!)

Buy an eventer. I may go to Europe or buy British. It would have to be young-7/9 and experienced. in fact, I have one like that alrerady for much less!

Hmmm, I would just trawl ads everywhere to find a nice 20k horse... it wold be a nice 6/7yr old at Nov/Intermediate

I would use the rest of the money to upgrade the horsebox and pay off my debts so I could afford to event it

I would buy back my old jumping pony but leave it with its current rider, just pay for more training for the pair of them and have the satisfaction of watching it, that would only take about £20k, then I would buy 3 or 4 more nice youngsters to start myself and and have nice novice string. No point spending all that on one horse!

I'd proabably buy a couple of nice 4 yo from the continent, spend the rest on training, and hope one turned into a superstar.

I'd go back to Vere aswell and see what he had!! If i could have another one of what I've got from him i would be a very happy person!!

I'd go skipping off to buy myself a little lorry first, I'm not sure if I'd have time or finances to support 2, and I love my boy and his devil horns too much to risk neglecting him! would prob stick the other 40k in the bank to fund competing, training and stuff

i would buy loads of young potential eventers instead of just one horse! and i would find them at some top dealer/breeder for eventers lol...

I would be straight on the phone to the Belgian dealer I already buy from asking him to look for something suitable. TBH though a horse with the potential/ability that £50k would buy would need a much more proficient rider than me.

i'd go to Vere Phillipps and hopefully buy 3, and hope one would get to 4*...!

Snap, though I'd be happy with 2/3* (unless I was lucky enough to get one that really was up to 4* then I'd have to find someone to ride it for me!).

to be honest...id rather buy two or three really super showjumpers between 15 and 20k each rather than one amazing horse...because i reckon 2 or 3 15-20k horses would probably be better (for me anyways) than one 50k horse that i would be too scared to ride encase it cut itself! lol :P

i would probably buy off a proff sj-er dealer type person

i would aim for sj-ers between 7 and 10 to have done a decent amount of comp work with very good jumps 1m30+ courses, either already done or close to doing (aka currently at 1m20 or something)

xx

id buy a horse at around 20k mark
wink.gif
preferably a 6/7/8 year old at novice/intermediate level, and spend the rest on paying for lessons so i could learn to ride!!

and then some more money could be spent on entry fees etc.
oh and if some nice 5 year olds come my way...

I'd buy one Andalusian schoolmaster to teach me the ropes in "proper" dressage, and if I still hadn't blown my budget then I'd get another younger one or a Lusitano, and something with a bit of potential for someone to event for me
smile.gif

I would buy a couple of ex race horses to produce and hope they were really talented. If I bought a really expensive horse I know it would just get injured in the 1st week with my luck!

That is probably the nicest thing I have heard for a long while xx I have a few bits and bobs I am thinking of giving them, makes my post seem a little materialistic which I didnt mean it to be

Tell you what 100k then everyones happy xxxx

I'm another one who'd buy a nice but not 50k horse then spend the rest on supporting it:

10-15k - horse (to showjump, only to Foxhunter tho as I haven't got the balls to go further)
10k - transport (nothing fancy)
5k - tack & clothes ('cos It'd be nice to kit a horse out fully without having to save for one thing at a time)
The rest could go towards training & cover the cost of competing & would probably be gone very, quickly.

Isn't it funny how few people would actually want to go & spend the full 50k on a horse.

**wanders off to buy a lottery ticket**

£15k on a very experienced Intermediate/Advanced horse with faultless jumping record (don't care about dressage) that can take me around bigger tracks.

£25k on a nice 5/6yro that is already at BE Novice with good record to bring on hopefully to Advanced.

keep the rest for training myself and the above and also to help with my rather special rising 3yro.
