If I had a saddle made to measure would it be made to fit my short backed horse in the panel and the seat size to fit me either 17" or 17 1/2"? Or can you only fit certain sized panels to a certain sized seat?

Now considering the option of having one made to measure to sort my short backed ned a saddle! He can fit anything up to a 19" panel in length on his back.

Any suggestions/recommendations? I have cash and a 5 month old thorowgood saddle to part exchange.

Depends what you want Sue Carson Saddles are good, panel and tree are fitted to horse then the seat and flaps are fitted to you. They can be expensive (my saddle was £150.00 form internet so anything above that is expensive to me! Lol

I had my Frank Baines saddle made to measure and I love it, its my pride and joy plus its hand made in England.
I had it made to measure for my horses back, width and shape as you'd expect then the saddle flaps, knee rolls, thigh blocks were made to my spec and the saddle flaps were made to the lengh of my lower leg and if your jumping as I do it makes you feel so secure to have saddle made to how you sit and to your lenght of leg and because you know its a 100% fit to your horse it makes you more confident to tackle more and bigger fences

Just spoken to local saddlery that measures up and sends off for Manor saddles to be made and they say the panel size is standard to the seat size so cannot be changed.

They are going to double check and get back to me tomorrow. So really a Manor saddle wouldn't be made to measure would it?

Made to measure is what it says - made to fit both you and your horse!!

It is worth every penny - I had to get my coblets made to measure - that was 8 years ago and it still fits perfectly despite her loosing over 20 inches of her girth

and putting on muscle. It is checked every year and is still comfy for her and comfy for me - even after 3 hours of riding.
