and I'm 5'8 and tiny bit: how big is Roo?

It a highly technical and effective method of measurement I'll have you know. Very BHS.

It's dank and miserable here this eve and Im bored but can't be bothered going to find my measuring stick nor persuading him it'll not eat him. His bum's 2inches higher than his withers currently, which I can only just see over.

Haven't measured him for quite a while, he's def grown and after him jumping on my foot yesterday, he's looking quite big. :o

Answers on a postcard (remember those days?!). First correct answer, picked at random, wins (hot chocolate and marshmallows with a dash of ameretto)

How long are you in the air when you hop just high enough to see over him?

How many marshmallows does each hop use?

I am actually bored enough this evening to do some school maths.

hmm as a guesstimation...

4 inches in a hand 5'2 is 62 inches

60 divided by 4 = 15 + 2

so maybe 15.2hh ish????

;)

Except Im 5'8. Which by your reckoning makes him an extra 6" inches and therefore 17hh. No, no, no, I dislike that intensely ( he's not even 3 yet!) and therefore you cannot have the prize. Sorry.

You're a couple of inches taller than me, i'm 16.2 so you must be 17hh and if you just see over him i'd guess he's knocking on for 16hh in front. Did you want a big horse? Hope so :D

Ahh but Springy is cleverly allowing 6" on the assumption your eyes are lower than the top of your head............................though you could be a freak of nature and have eyes coming out your scalp!:D

Well, if we're going to do it properly:

I figure, with damaged foot and all, I prob used up enough calories to be allowed to lick a marshmallows (you can still have them after). SO: at say 30 calories a mallow and hopping using up say 400 calories and hour, I reckon a flight time of 2 second......

Eyes six inches lower that the top of my head?! * off to find a ruler just to check*. Nope, def not. Phew. And that doesn't take into account vectors and mean air speed.

15.4 and 3/4hh, much bigger than Little Ted who is 12.6 and7/8ths

We need a picture of Roo to guestimate his size.

I'm 16.1hh and I have to stretch to groom 17hh mare. If you are 17hh but have to jump to see over his rump then try standing on a crate or mounting block that way you'll get a much better view. Or just walk around the horse so that he's not in the way  :D

Im standing up the slope a little.

:D He does very much like a bum scratch so it's often in the way.

I'm 15 hands approx so I can see over my 14.1 but not a hope with the big lad at 16.3 even if I jump, on a spring board, with a periscope. You're taller than me and achieve better results jumping, maybe 16.1? No chocolate thanks i'm dieting. :-) again. :-(

I'd say about 15.2 at the withers. I'm using my very technical & exact measuring system, based on comparing my own height (5'10) to horses. From your photo I therefore calculate he's around 15.2, give or take a few inches either way. I can't share the equation though, its far too complex!

No help at all but if yours is too big can I swap, mine is too small. Springy your comments have made my evening.:D Family think I'm nuts enough without chuckling away at the comp.
