If I were to Sell my Pony how much would she be worth?

I am thinking about selling or part x my pony and getting something more suitable for my daughter to ride,

Con x ( I think) no idea what her breeding is. (passport doesn't say)

Pony has just turned 5, 14'2 Steel Grey Mare, good to catch/turn out and handle on the ground.

Can walk trot canter and started leg yielding.

has seen coloured poles and fillers ,jumped at home but not been to any competions yet.

han be stuborn to load, but will go in after she stamps her feet a few times.

Hacks out alone and company and traffic does not phase her.

Lunges fine.

She needs to be brought on in her ridden work and can test her rider if they not confident, nothing too bad, just silly cheeky youngster.

She can live with other horses no problem and is generally good to handle.

Teeth/back/feet & vacs all up todate

So... how much do you think she is worth?

urm i would say about £1500-£2000but im no expert and never sold a horse before only purchased!

Around my way about 1500 max if she comes with tack, without you'd be looking at less.

Unfortunately you cab buy ponies this size well established under saddle with no issues for 1500, the market is naff.

If you were to trade in with a dealer, you will only get a few hundred knocked off the purchase price of your new pony

So generally speaking it would be better to keep her over the winter, get her more established and then maybe sell next year once we've had her out competing?

What is her conformation like? If she is an attractive, well put-together type she will be worth more than something with conformation flaws.

When you say she can walk, trot and canter, does she do these obediently, calmly and in some semblance of an outline?

How has her jumping progressed at home - does she ever stop, rush, etc? What height courses is she jumping at home and does she usually jump them clear? Is she showing a good shape over a fence?

If someone bought her, would they be able to take her out to local competitions and Pony Club rallies straight away, or does she need more schooling for that?

Conformation - well put together, no flaws, nice looking pony.

Walk trot canter obediently, just starting to get her going in an outline, though carriers herself quite nicely.

She likes jumping, forward but safe, makes a good shape doesn't stop, not know to knock fences, she is quite a genuine sort of pony, she jumping about 50/60cm @ home She's not ready to go out competing yet, only because my daughter isn't quite ready... ( she not confident enough) although a more confident experienced rider would have no trouble with her.

Yes you would probably get a better price in spring and once she's more established, but weigh up the costs of keeping her through winter against a higher selling price.

Cost of keeping her through the winter would make no difference as she on Full livery, and I would be getting another pony anyway.. something thats more established and ready to go.. maybe something a little older.. ie 13yrs or so

£2500 in the spring! market is always rubbish going into winter - but come the spring it picks back up as parents want ponies over the summer for the kiddies.
