What sort would you be?

First earlies- have fed, turned out and done the stable and left the yard by 6.45 am

Second earlies- arrive about 6,45 - gone by 8 to go to work

Maincrop- arrive 7.30 ish and stay for the motning- or 3 pm ish and stay ftill evening?

Definitely main crop however am surrounded by first earlies, why do they always make me feel so bad on a weekend when they're leaving the yard at 9am having mucked out and ridden, when I'm just arriving bleary eyed?????

I know, why do some people get up so early and are so efficient in the mornings??? I console myself with the thought that maybe they sneak off for a siesta mid afternoon - but in reality by then they have probably worked, fed 10 kids, done some baking, immaculately cleaned the house and are on the way back to do evening stables?

I would be maincrop however on my yard I am considered an early bird as I am the first person there, turned out and mucked out and home before anyone else shows up. Im even earlier at the weekend cause I have to be at work for 11am. Our YO feeds and hays in the morning and a lot of them dont show up till the afternoon/after work. I mostly only see my fellow liveries when I go back up to the yard to bring in

I know- I ant understand on winter weekends when your just fumbling about in the dark- I am a second early when working and maincrop on non working days.

I am a second early and often say hi to the lone first early at our end of the yard. Sometimes I am a main crop at weekends but I totally regret it, I like the peace of the early morning

I work nights, get to my horses at 9.30 -10, in winter l leave around lunchtime to sleep. In summer - ****** the sleep, I stay all day!
Does a potato like me exist? Lol x

Second early. Although I'll let you into a secret - on Sundays I sometimes go back to bed for an hour or two when I get back home.. :)

See I think if I could maintain my second early status over the weekend it would make sense to do this. I feel bad turning the horses out when its still dark and there's not a huge amount of grass (though they are far luckier than some!) but today is the first day I have felt maybe Spring really is coming and then I might even be an early potato :)

I've been a first early and a second early, now I've gone to seed :biggrin3:

I have never done first early by choice though, its been a case of having to sort the horse and ride then get back home for a shower and change then off to work. I don't like mornings. I used to be quite skilled at doing my jobs without fully waking up then going back to bed till a more acceptable hour, didn't really like the horse waiting on me so that was next best thing :biggrin3:
