What five things would you want to do with your horses if you had an unlimited budget and loads of time on your hands?

1) Buy my own horse transport, with living space for me and other human types so I could go away on holiday with Hippo and some friends to the seaside/other fun spots:)
2) Hire a team of professional grooms to help keep her vaguely clean:p
3) Learn how to drive a trap - would of course need suitable horse for this:rolleyes:
4) Buy nice hairy cob type for aforementioned trap:D
5) Breed a foal from Hippo to raise as her eventual replacement for when I retire her to live out her days in luxury;)

Strangely, I couldn't imagine moving yards...not even to somewhere of my own! I love where we are; it's so peaceful and friendly.

I love this post, made me smile :)) I'd agree on point 1 & 2 definitely.

3) I'd buy more horses - three would be a nice number :) - I fancy a good quality Dutch or German warmblood (sane & accomplished), preferably at PSG level. And I would like a coloured warmblood, with lovely conformation, black and white with nice markings :)) I LOVE those! :)

4) I'd buy them all expensive saddles and gorgeous bridles, and Mattes lambskin half pads (£120 each! eek), and matchy matchy Anky bandages and numnahs

5) I wouldn't work, would just spend all my time doing horsey things :)

6) I would go to work / volunteer for a top dressage rider for a few months to improve my riding and get loads of experience (not to be a professional, but just to be a really good strong rider)

ahhh, if only..... ;)

Totally agree with all of this! Only with an event rider rather than pure dressage :D
Also I'd buy a lovely country estate with a country house, stabling, menage, cross country course, show jumps, a lake and some woods! Guess I'd better get my lottery tickets out!

haha!

@ Princessjess...country estate - yes definitely, will add to my list :))

If someone said "here's £20K, you can spend it on whatever you like (except bills or mortage/rent), what would you spend it on? New horse(s)? Fancy lorry? ...

Yes, I better start looking for a wealthy husband or buying lottery tickets ;))

£20K - Wow, more horses definitely! And a lorry - I would spend £5K on the new horse allowance, and the rest on the lorry:D
Lottery here I come...

1. Have a foal from Hippo as would love a HippoxArab :)
2. Buy own land so could have a couple more ponies.
3. Buy 2 more ponies - 4 is a perfect number :D
4. Buy a lorry to transport my many ponies :)
5. UM.... gorgeous new saddles for said ponies

If Someone handed me £20k to buy - I'd love another pony but the running costs would't be too feasible (I'd keep 10k back for vet emergency / possible future foal) and buy a lorry :)

If money and time were no object I would have an indoor school (20x60) and a decent little lorry.
There is nothing else I would change.............but I might also buy a Lamboghini Mercielago:D

I have a 7 yr old son with a Mercielago obsession - my neighbour had a guest to stay last year who had one and Oliver just stood and gawped at the thing for ages - Bless him :D

I'd buy a tidy little lorry
Build a school
Buy some decent free draining pasture
Invest in some lovely English bridles, Kay Humphries custom made saddles and Rambo rugs :D
Oh and lessons with Lucinda McAlpine - I hear she is great :D

Does your son have an x box by any chance? That's where my Lambo obsession was born.:D

Do save up for a lesson with Lucinda. You might find you only need one to get your horse walking on air.;)

1) Buy my own private yard with approx 10 stables and 10 acres, outdoor school in an area with fantastic hacking. Would have my horses there and run it as a livery yard with the liveries being mostly made up of people I know well. :)

2) Buy a lorry and take my lorry test so I could take my horses out wherever/whenever I wanted.

3) Would buy another horse (or two!) One big, sturdy experienced hunter to be my second horse and a project horse to bring on and sell.

4) Would subscribe to my local Hunt and would try and get out every week

5) Would use the rest of my money to buy my horses lots of nice, expensive things!

:D

1) Buy a house, with land, and stables
2) Start up a rescue centre
3) Help friends and family out
4)Spoil rescue and current horses (loyalty points= gold buckets etc)
5) Buy transport

1. Excavate top paddock - it has a large flat area, then a sloping area - and build a 60 x 60 indoor school. Backfill on top to replace paddock. Solar on roof of barn to light indoor.
2. Buy the 20 acre field just down the lane (he won't sell but if money is no object I'm sure eventually he will)
3. Rebuild stable block with bigger stables 2 or 3 more and overhang so can do more in the dry.
4. Rebuild house with an upstairs so I can look out over my yard and field (bungalow)
5. Build an annex for FIL to live now he's getting older would make life easier for him

haha!

Haha yay, who knows maybe we'll both win the lottery and we can have neighbouring estates! Ha :D
Hmm...if I had a spare 20k it would definately be horse first, then a lorry to have transport for shows and maybe some left over for pretty accessories!

I wouldn't mind another horse or two... Maybe D and F's half bro from Morrich and a highlandxPRE type.

I'd have the beasts at home with lots and lots of grazing and a lovely big school, xc course, gallops :D

I might invest a little time into F and try to get him to national level workers and see if we could scramble round a BE one day.

And spend all day every day with them working on fitness and schooling and having fun :D

I'd build my own yard, 12 red brick stables round a central court yard, wash room, heated rug room, secure tack room, hay barn, 24 acres of well draining grazing.

Automatic troughs, automatic waterers, rubber matting in stables, access to off road hacking, an all weather 20m x 60m floodlit arena, indoor school, full set of showjumps, lunge ring.

I'd keep my three and also buy a RC schoolmaster type and have lots of lessons to give me some much needed confidence. I'd kit all four out in posh rugs, matchy matchy saddlecloths and Otto Schumacher tack.

I'd have a groom come housekeeper, a nice lorry and a posh barn conversion for OH and I.

You said money was no object right? :D

1 Buy a nice farm with no equestrian facilities in place so I could design it exactly how I wanted it
2 Pay my girls through private school (i know this is strictly bills but 'dream bills')
3 Palomino warmblood about 4 to break/bring on.
4 2x 13.2hh smart NF 4 or 5 to bring on for girls when they are big enough
5 Live in nanny/ groom just to help out when I can't be everywhere.

Highland x PRE sounds like a nice mix:)

I would book a flight to Spain to try, and if I like them, buy a hispano arabe (PRE x arab). Buy at least two and pick up my endurance riding after 5 years of no riding due to horse's ill health and eventual PTS. Now skint!!

I would keep them at livery where my old Haffie is as it is so good and I would want to travel a bit - good holidays not back packing or anything but several of them a year!!

Re-new my wardrobe - equine and otherwise!

Have a good go at the house and renew loads of stuff

1) nice equestrian property with indoor & outdoor school, on site xc course & a few hundred acres to hack round.
2) horsebox
3) decent eventer for me & a grade a jumper. And a tb, with all that cash & other horses to ride the vet bills etc wouldn't be an issue.
4) a 13.2 connie for me, I mean my daughter.
5) cleaners, cook etc so I can play horses all day.

Ooooh I love these sort of threads :D
1) a lovely OLD house with acres of land, woods, streams etc so I could set up my own amazing Paddock Paradise.
2) a purple horse box (favourite colour!) with living, so that I could take the girls wherever I wanted. It would have a corral that attached to the box, so that we could park up somewhere remote and stop over.
3)Two fantastically comfy endurance saddles that myself and friend could ride on all day without our arses getting sore :D
4) A cook/cleaner/housekeeper to run my house like clockwork, do ALL the ironing and pick up the dog poo in the garden. My only stipulation would be that she is older than me and has a face like a bulldog chewing a wasp :D so that OH isn't tempted to stray.**
5) Lessons in all different disciplines, depending on my mood. Say, Carl Hester for dressage (think he would be a laugh :D ) Mark Todd for X country, would have to be Eddie Macken for SJ (loved his riding)

** Housekeeper's looks negotiable: if OH prepared to let me buy Johnny Depp as my riding partner (he can also sleep in my horsebox. with me :D ) then he may have a stunning female of his choice. She still has to pick up the dog poo though.
Well, I can dream! :D

I always wander this!

1) Buy about 8 hunters so I can have 4 days a week hunting, with 2 horses each day.
2) Hire a large team of professional grooms to muck out and help get the horses fit.
3) Buy a few nice eventers- similar to the one I just bought to event.
4) Have a brand new yard built, with indoor/outdoor arenas, full set of show jumps, XC course, solarium, hot water hose area, tack room, feed room, really fancy etc. and a mansion to go with it. The yard would be red brick, with a clock tower in a court yard with lovely gravel (raked by a good looking gardner) and a centre paddock to keep a shettie in!
5) An Oakley Supreme- with the pop out side!

You can dream right?

Fidleyspromise please can we see a pic of hippo as i now actually imagine a hippo rather than a horsr :-)

If you insist :D

I think a Hippo would actually be less stubborn and I might get some input as to where we go/what we do. :p

Okay so....

1) a lovely 3.5tonne box with lovely neat storage and a little sitting place inside to take our two to the beach and shows!

2) A brand new stable box for Kelly as she's trashed her old one. (and at £90+ a pop, her old one will have to do for now!!!)

3) A beautiful country house - must be countrysideish but close enough to hack to beach! - plenty of hacking, beautiful countryside. Must have 4+ bedrooms, 4 (at least!) stables, tack room, room for an arena and lots of space for nice fields for the girls.

4) I might be tempted to invest in a youngster to bring on myself if I can find a stunning grey IDX or a tricolour anything that takes my fancy enough to buy!

5) New everythings for Kelly, I think she'd look lovely in baby blue or bright pink matchy matchy!! (And of course, I'D have to match too! ;))

6) Lessons from a GOOD SJ instructor to help me with my jumping. Will need a horse to do this on of course as Kelly can no longer jump :(

7) 4+ alpacas for my mum and my Golden Retriever and a canine agility course for my Dad and my GSD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D:D:D:D:D:D
K x

8) almost forgot....a Shettie for the OH!!!!!!
