if someone says they can do better than you...

Someone used to do this to me ALL THE TIME and one day I got a bit pee'd off (well VERY pee'd off!) so I jumped off and told them they could ride him (something I wouldn't usually do, infact it was very out of character!) anyway they said they would love to, paraded round the show ground on my horse, even had the cheek to be heard saying to their brother, i'll own this horse by the end of the day and then promptly demolished the practise fence and got eliminated at the first fence in the ring, they never said another word to me about my horse and never critised my riding of him again!! He wasn't particularly that differcult (the horse) he just had a large obnoxious streak and you had to know which buttons you could and couldn't push with him.

It wasn't the first time i'd had my own back on this person and their critism of me, the year before we were having a fun 'adults' mounted games competiton, which was hilarious fun, and they said they would like to ride my pony, who wasn't winning but was doing better than theirs so I swapped (knowing full well my pony was stubborn and you needed pants of fire to get him going) and they lost every class on him, they then took him out into the field and couldn't get him to trot away from the lorry park but when they eventually got to the other side of the field and turned round to come back he prompted carted them all the way back to the lorry, they never asked to ride him again either!!

Mother_hen- I Love you!! BUT I have let her ride him once before- a few weeks ago and the pics were as horrid as the actual event. His chin managed to meet his chest for a while and then some before I said loosen up the reins and put your leg on- NOOOOOO offence meant but 90% of riders from moreto morrell seem to know the let your leg off and saw the mouth routine It takes alot for me to be nasty but there is a line with me- I either like it or I dont and dont want to upset her but her own angst about what she percieves is right ISNT - not the way I have been taught! It did make me smile alittle and feel sorry for her horse tonight when she went across the car park and all you could see where her shoulders sawing like she was doing the funky robot dance on her horse! poor horse and mouth.

F**king back seat drivers - don't you just hate 'em.

It's always the ones that don't compete that feel they're qualified to comment.

I generally make a point of ignoring advice from anyone who's not competing successfully at least one level above me.

I find the best way to shut them up is ask them when they're next taking their own horse out ?
