My friends and I went to our local show yesterday, had a great afternoon (saw some seriously dodgy riding!!) the hilight was the childrens fancy dress, I was amazed at the imagination and ingenuity involved.

It got me thinking about what I would do with my shire x if I put him in something like this....??? Still pondering about it.

Does anyone know what they'd dress up as (in theory of course) or does anyone have any pics of childrens fancy dress classes :-)

My daughters pony is pure white, so I made him a cloud by putting a cloud shape sheet over him (with wire threaded through it to make it lift off him) with dangling rain drops and hearts hanging from it, and she was cupid..with a curly blonde wig over her hard hat, toga, bow and arrows with hearts on the end. she got first place looked great but loads of work x

When i was at college we had a fancy dress type comp within the whole equine department. We were teamed up in small groups of 3 and were allocated 2 horses per group and we had to dress up and do like a combined training type thing!!
We chose devil and angel! We made like rugs with tinsel all round the edge silver for angel (me!!) and red for the devil (which was a scatty chestnut tb!), and stuck red and silver tinsel all round the edges of their boots and i was dressed all in white and devil rider all in red!! One horse then had to do a dressage test (me!) and the other a showjumping course in costume!! Both horses did very well especially wearing flapping rugs and having tinsel in their manes etc!! and we won the competition :D

I would dress my horse up as a princess! as she very much thinks she is one  lol!!

Our RC does quite a lot of adult Fancy Dress Pub Rides for charity. I was once The Snow Queen on big grey. Sister has been a clown on Appy.
We must have a very imaginative membership, there have been a medieval knight and lady, a pantomime dame, a Shetland police horse, pulling a cart with a 'burglar' running in front, several fairies, 'out-of-work' and other-wise, Santa Claus, the Night Before Christmas, amongst others. I should say as well that most of the costumes are home-made, with lots of ingenuity, to a high standard.
We also regularly hold Hallowe'en and Easter Bonnet Rides which are open to all riders and we plan to hold our 2nd St Trinian's themed ride this summer. We held a Pink Bra-ride for Breast Cancer Charities which stopped the traffic.

A place I worked at was holding a show one year and at 9pm the night before my bosses daughter decided she wanted to compete! In a rush we got some red and blue food dye and dyes her white Welsh b pink with a blue main and tail by mixing the fo9d colour with water and spongeing him down lol he was a my little pony that year! And we won !

LOL That's ace! :D

My friend's son is going to a fancy dress show with his little welsh b!
She asked me for ideas and I said Shrek, Princess and donkey!

She has all planned!

- Ear extensions for pony, plait tail and do something with bottom!
- Son covered in green face paints, rough looking shorts and plumped up with pillows, headband with ears on etc etc..

Not sure about Princess yet, I know she's riding and Shrek is leading.. but I can't wait to see what it's going to look like! :D
