... where would it be? And Why?

But remain realistic - it doesn't mean that you have millions of £££ to spend on wonderful horsey properties... basically, where would you move if you could find a job in that particular place that is similar to the one you already have?

The third question is: What is stopping you from moving there?

Mine would be very lifestyle orientated, with loads of horsey potential:

1) USA - would love to buy a place in an "equestrian community". It's like those gated communities, but with fantastic horsey facilities. Land is nowhere near as expensive as here, you can get a few acres for an amount that might give you a few square metres in the south of England. ETS: Also, now with Bush gone, it's a much more appealing country!!! What's stopping me... Mainly visa requirements.

2) Germany - that's actually where I grew up!!! Well, it goes without saying that it's a very horsey country. I would prefer to be in West Germany though... I have met quite a lot of nice people from the East (mostly horsey though) but the general feeling I got from the average Joe on the street (since I'm of mixed heritage) wasn't so great! What's stopping me... Mainly jobs.

3) France - loads of nice equestrian properties for a fraction of the cost of a British one. What's stopping me... don't speak the language and obviously, jobs.

I'm staying here in Spain, but I would like to win the lottery...

Western Australia, As when i visited that area I could have happily stayed and never come back to the UK

Either Canada or Australia. My mum used to live in Oz and she absolutely loved it, says she sometimes wishes she'd never left - sunshine all round!

Or Canada because I've always wanted to go there and see wolves. What's stopping me is that I'm 18 and have uni to get on with!

I have travelled a bit, and I can honestly say that I like England and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. Sorry if that is boring...

I remember talking to a Doctor one rainy english day and he came from Greece. I said, I bet you miss home and he said "No. the thing about England is, everything works here..."

Don't get me wrong, England is nice and picturesque - but it's a better country to live in if you were very rich or were part of the previous generation (ok, let's say if you're already in your 40s and above or very close to it) as this generation would be the one that benefited most from the rising property prices. It's not so nice belonging to the next generation...

Have to laugh at the Greek doctor's comment though... in my experience, it's not like that at all... but then again, he's from Greece, and from what I have heard friends saying, things there are even worse than in the UK!!!

I would move further along in Aberdeenshire if i had my dream farm! But if I had to be a city girl it would be Edinburgh hands down.

All my F & F are here, so why move far away xx

Would maybe move within Europe, but no further I don't think. I definitely wouldn't move to a hot country if I wanted to ride - very unpleasant.

Tried riding when I lived in Oz and got very hot, plus there are ticks everywhere!!

Without being boring I would stay exactly where I am just have a bigger house with my own stables and paddocks!

I would love to live and work in Canada not sure which bit yet but have loved every visit we have had there. Think if I had the time and the money hire one of those big motor homes and drive around Canada for 6 months and find us a lovely farm to raise horses on and hopeful OH to be able to continue his writing. Lots of space for people to come and stay. Getting near to retiring may be one day we will do just this! I can dream can't I???!!! Can't do it at the moment as daughter is still in school and OH in work here. Don't fancy him leaving his current job at this time. If not Canada would love to return to South Africa

Botswana-Adore this country and i actually have a job offer out there
Canada- family connections
New Zealand- friends already there
Dubai- very very nearly moved there in 2004 but met my OH and stayed.

Wales - Carmarthenshire - visited the place once with my friend to buy a cob colt and its like a totally diiferent country! So much lovely contryside and hacking!! Lots of space and peacefullness. It was horrible coming back to Leicester, lots of fumes in the air, so many cars and people!!

Reasons why I'm not there already - im only 24, i couldnt leave my dad on his own, i have a reasonably well paid job etc

I would love to move to North America or Canada. We honestly do talk about retiring abroad if possible. America is probably a no no because of visa's, so maybe Canada, although I think it is more expensive.

I also live in Leicester, and would ideally move to a very similar part of Wales as you...how random!

I would love to live in Ireland. Something about the people, how down to earth and friendly they are and the scenery itself really made me love it there when I was visiting some years ago.

As for our former President, he was a sight better than the current one...but then again, we all have our own opinions...

Ireland - County cork. Been there loads of times, really like it. Cant move there as no-one will give me a job as I am female (work in the building trade), and I'm not irish

I'd like to live in Florida as love their gated equestrian communities they have. After attending several events there to spectate, I love their laid back way of competing (I watched top show jumpers like Beezie Madden compete in just a stock shirt and comfy jods - nothing strict unlike here!) and they had lovely big purpose built stable and loads of arena's at the venue's. Plus, the weather is always perfect
wink.gif

Realistically though, someday I do intend to live in France. I dont know why, its just in my head to do so. I like the country as its like Scotland where I live now but warmer :P
