if you didn't have a horse....

I show chickens. Since I have had the ponies I've taken the chicken showing less seriously but I used to take pictures of potential show birds from all angles then upload the pics and zoom in on them looking for duff feathers (birds are black and white stripes) I would then go back to the bird find that particular feather and get rid of it

Sooo.. probably doing that

Think the chickens are relieved that I am less focused!

I've got a fast cat but if someone asked me to do.a runner with them, I never could. Boredom gets my mind going mad haha
 
I'd certainly not be grooming horses for a living! I do it currently as I finish at lunchtime giving me the afternoons free to muck out and ride my own horse. It also means I can do mine in the morning on the way to work and not worry about being mud splattered or hairy for work!
I would have weekends off and shop lots ;)
 
Nothing would change for me except id have no reason for going out the house other than going to work. I dont spend money on clothes, make up ( dont actually possess any ) dont have friends to go out with. So would be very lonely and bored. My pony has a serious injury which is making him hard to handle so hes only getting the basics as wont tolerate anything else being done with him and I wish I could spend some proper time with him and give him some proper cuddles and a good groom but its not possible and I really miss it.
 
I'd be spending more time with my ever growing collection of photographic gear, learning how to use it better and maybe(who knows) even selling a pic or two. I'd also have a cleaner, tidier house; a better fed husband and more money in the bank!!!!
 
I think I'd prob have same job but I'd spend my money on things like a nice car and nicer house, newer clothes etc and I'd smell of expensive perfume instead of horse, or I'd have a couple of kids and still have none of the above but smell of baby sick instead! We couldn't afford kids AND horses so there was no choice really, but I have the best little nieces so I get the best of both worlds.

Definitely be living in a period cottage in a nice village with a big garden. I was a keen gardener pre pony; I still am but don't have as much time now of course! We literally made the choice to have a pony rather than buy said cottage.

I would probably have gone massively into dog sports (obedience, agility) with my little gsd, which would have made him happy!
 
We'd have finished the house by now...it had serious structural issues involving having to take the whole roof off & ceilings, rewire, etc etc...doing all the work ourselves...so if we had the extra money it would be all finished instead of being a building site/tip still... And then I'd be sitting in a clean, tidy, finished house wondering what on earth to do with myself...

I would have money and time to enjoy my other passion Quilting/Patchwork and designing and knitting arans. I am thinking about giving up in a couple of years I just don't bounce the way I used too.
 
I'd have a tidy house, nicer clothes, and a less stressful job than the one I do currently to afford the horse on full livery. I'm not sure what I'd do with my time though, maybe read more, cook more.
 
I'd spend more time on other hobbies - I do a lot of exercise but I'd probably take up triathlons or something. I'd go back to having music lessons. I'd have a better social life, nicer clothes, nicer holidays and a much nicer house - the horse costs me almost as much as the mortgage!
 
In theory, I'd have more money, smarter clothes, a tidy house and a better looked after husband (although he doesn't do too badly anyway!)!!
In reality I'd either have dogs that were walked for hours (although I'm not sure I'd have the same drive to get up & go with them) or I would be in a wheelchair/bedridden.... I have ME - horses are my reason for getting up in a morning, without them I would give into the temptation to just stop. As much as they cause me grief, mean I'm knackered & often make me question why I bother, I know that it's because of my 'need' to have a horse that I've been able to keep going for past 19 years that I've been ill. Plus, I can't see myself wandering round the shops on a weekend... ;)
 
If l didn't have my horses l'd have a couple more parrots as people tend to rehome them as they find that they are harder work than they initially thought. It like most animals its not buying them its keeping them!!!
 
Well, I guess the housework would get done, the house would be decorated each year, the garden would be tidy. I'd join a gym, buy new clothes, get my hair and nails done, maybe even have some spa days with the girls 😀 add a few exotic holidays to the mix.... Mmmmm... Not owning a horse doesn't seem that terrible :D

The reality is I wouldn't be without them - life would be so boring.... Really it would... No, really... Lol!!
 
I'd buy clothes, go on holidays and probably live in the city where lots of my mates are. I'd have nice long Sundays in bars and do culture ;). On the downside my depression would probably spiral out of control!
 
Probably get a better camera as I did when I lost my first pony, and get out taking lots of photos. Perhaps I would have enough income to move as I would like. I don't spend money on clothes, makeup, jewellery, going out etc, so who knows!
 
I force myself to go and do stuff because the other option is to sit in the house: eat and drink and grow fat and depressed. Today I am in house because the gym and most other places are closed and its too wet to do much else.
Last week I went to museums and I intend to self educate in art and archaeology [there are a lot of courses online], but unfortunately it feels more like going back to school rather than having fun. I play bridge online quite a lot.. I've been there and done photography, tried local art classes, but only once. I would like to try making stuff, modelling or something, but have not really done anything about it, thought about jewellery but am not creative!
House is still mildly chaotic, just as it was when I had the horses, so no change there except there is absolutely no smell of horsey stuff, though still have too much of my tack and clothing.
I am:
a) able to buy stuff I don't need
b) two stone heavier than two years ago
c) bored

It isn't a concept I can understand! We have had horses for about 40 years, made lots of friends through them, used them as therapy for damaged souls and they fit in with other hobbies, I spin and knit in the evenings in the winter months :)
