I agree. If I had the space and £800 to spare, that is what I would do. I think once broken and brought on, she could more than treble her cost.
 
I saw one like this on preloved today.

18 yo colt, already had tack on and lunged. For sale as may be a rig and apparently that will cost £600 to sort out, and if that happens she will have to PTS as can't afford it :confused:

Stunning pony though, wish I had the experience to take a youngster on!
 
I also got the impression she is just trying to draw attention to the mare and hoping someone will buy her rather than her be slaughtered. The reference to breeding her reads as just a suggestion because she thinks she is a good quality mare and another road to go down in the hope of her being saved. IMO the ad is quite clear that it is not her horse. If her ad pays off and someone buys the mare then it will be worth all the slating and she will have succeeded in what she set out to do!
 
I have worked with Babette for a lot of years now and I can assure you that she only wants the best for this animal. She loves horses and is only trying to draw attention to get a home for it.

So please don't get the wrong idea here.... She's trying to find a home for this mare.

What is meat money for a small cob like that? I would have guessed about 300 if it was an old native cow but I have no idea for a pony.

The advert would have been better to mention more about the actual mare, height, has she been handled at all etc.
 
So you could buy the mare for £800 and let it run with her stallion and she wants no gain from it is just trying to save the mare ....... :D

So there's will be no stud fee right ...

Also has such high care and welfare for horses to encourage someone to breed from what is already a rescue and could then add another to a rescue somewhere .....
 
She needs to seriously take stock of what she is doing.
The mare is two a penny.....over here they are going for peanuts.....so to imply breeding from it when the potential dam may end up as longleat fodder?

If she was THAT worried about the mare, she could buy it herself and bring it over, get her backed then sell her on.
I think there is more to this than is being told.....

In answer to the post about allowing such wording on the NFED.
When I saw the advert I did expect some problems but as the advert didn’t break any of our rules, decided it was more important to approve it, take some flack & hopefully help to save it by finding a new home.

As explained in the site terms of use all information including approved adverts are published as received. We don’t edit text, correct spelling ect, adverts are either approved or rejected if they don’t follow rules & guidelines.

Hope that helps to clear things up.

There are a lot worse things than PTS for a horse, what does my head in is that they "keep" breeding unwanted animals, it's not bloody complicated, stop breeding unwanted animals then they won't be there to be slaughtered and then ridiculous adverts like this one :mad:

"Seems" there a lot of stray dogs come here from Ireland or is it just me ?

It does not appear that this horse is advertised in Ireland.
I would hazard a guess that this is playing on our neighbours sensibilities??
 
Hmm... Im in the process of possibly being "given" a horse to stop it being put to sleep... However, the circumstances are simply that the teenager the horse was bought for has found more interest in boys and BMW's, so daddy has ended up trying to sell it but its gone slightly lame (they think nothing to worry about). Daddy is fed up with this (he's not horsey I believe) so he decided to put it down instead. The horse is actually fantastically well bred and offers plenty more competing, and is apparently a really lovely natured horse. Hence, someone has stepped in and said to hold of putting it down to see if it comes right soundness-wise, if so I'll probably have it. I hate horses being put down for no reason.
