Do you miss going to shows?
I just dont have the time for my own and cant commit regular enough hours for a share so RS are my only option.
Only downside is I would like to do a few fun shows at some point and havnt found a RS that will let you hire horses for the day- maybe they dont do that anymore?

Some RS's have their own 'club' that does shows for regulars where you can use the horses on the premises? Not sure how you'd track one down, so not much help!

some BHS schools have their own riding clubs, where you can recieve tuition on one of their horses and attend shows. I imagine this would work out pricey though.

Yes I miss all that too, I got rid of my last horse in Oct 2000 and have missed it ever since, circumstances made me get rid of her. I missed everything about horses, so I helped look after the horse on the farm next door to my house and then when my daughter was 3yrs old two years ago, I got her into riding and bought her her own pony on her 4th birthday and am doing my dreams through her, we go to shows & gymkhana's etc and when she gets her rossettes I love it. I would like to get another horse for myself in the next five years, but like you say they are a huge commintment and expense. Perhaps you could part loan one???

Awww, sounds so much fun to have a child into horses....must corupt R ASAP

A share would be ideal, but I wouldnt be able to have definate days(which most owners understandably want).
Oh well, RS fro a while and maybe a share at some point in the future.....or a pony for R if the OH ever caves

Even though I've never own'd a horse I miss going to them with my ex. The atmosphere that surround a show is usally good and make me as a spectator enjoy watching.

I'm learning to ride at the moment so hopefully in a few years I will be able to experience shows from a competitor point of view. Wish me luck!

I miss it soooo much! Had to sell my dear old PC horse when I did a year abroad as part of my degree. Now I'm back and about to graduate, and can't wait to get a job so I can get out horse hunting! Last week I went to a Mary King lecture-demo at Bicton and also to help my aunt at the Festival of the Hunter and I was so gutted that I've nothing to ride. Having a break from it has really made me realise how much I love riding!
