On a new pair of boots what would you get?? I can't decide on paddock short boots or long boots. I don't need any for competion so just every day riding really .

Help me choose please!:D

Oooh I like those long toggie boots. Are they quite hard wearing for riding out in?

Thinking they might offer some gorse protection.

The Calgary? Mine survived about 9 months now, including mucking out, riding, lambing, extreme shepherding and all sorts of bizarre adventures :) They are comfortable and quite warm, but not too hot in summer months.

Toggi Calgary.
Ariats are very comfy, I love them, but I go through 3 pairs a year

Oh my god, cant believe you go through 3 pairs a year, I have my long ariats nearly 4 years, and disgracefully on my part, have not looked after them at all, and yet they are still going strong. last time i cleaned the i oiled them 12 times and they were still soaking it straight away. I'd swear by ariats. but toggi are good too.

Any good for riding in and general yard wear as at that price I can afford to get them and something else

Are the mountain horse ones true to size? As I'm a five but have a four in other ridingboots

FW my toggi canyons are going strong still and will be heading into their 3rd winter this year :D they never get cleaned apart from the odd hose off, and ive ridden in them loads - only now have they started to 'drop' and catch a little on the saddle, so I'm about to downgrade them in favour of some nice long boots for riding but I reckon they'll still do me prod this winter as glorified wellies!

I have mountain horse and Ariat. Never wear the MH(were a gift!)-still in box,as just not comfy compared to the Ariat ones. Can keep Ariat on all day & never get footsore - same goes for all my other boots, long or short,as the Ariat footbed is just really comfy.

Bugger now I have looked at the ariat grassmere I want them!!

Are these any good?

I've got those and have been happy with them. Had them for a year and a half and I not only ride in them, all the field work, gardening, sometimes country walks and general wear at shows (lorry and tractor, in addition to country). They've been fine. I wouldn't say they're quite as warm as the Ryedale ones I had, but they're definitely better for riding and they're still waterproof (tested daily, as I stand on the haynet to submerge it in the tub!).
