2 buckets, one with a broken handle, 1 ok. Ok one is put inside the broken one (broken one used sometimes but there is no storage for it) in the stable as water bucket - they do come apart.

How would you fill said water bucket?

a)Carry both buckets, attempting to carry by the handles of the one on the outside - the broken one.
b) Take apart and carry ok bucket and slip it back in the broken one.
c) use another/smaller bucket and go back and forth filling up bucket.

I'd buy a new bucket

Agreed. I value my own time too much to waste time thinking about it, or making the extra journeys.

I'd get rid of both and get trug type buckets that stand up to the rough and tumble!
Simply tie baling twine through the holes of the broken bucket and carry using that, but really, why not just buy a new bucket or a big tub and fill with a hosepipe!!
(and people wonder why we only have automatic drinkers in all our boxes.....

I would not use a poo picking bucket as a water bucket! even if another one inside. Leave it with the fork and barrow?
And have two good water buckets or one good tub in the stable.

Tis a trug

How the handle broke we are not sure - was just broken one day. Cant fill using hose as is too far away (out barn round corner) and so you would have to sprint like a nutter to turn it off and not soak stable. Hence why I didn't put the USE HOSE option

It gets cleaned out along with the water bucket - bottom of water bucket is dirtier than the INSIDE of the broken bucket

so hardly going to harm him any more than a normal one.
Cant leave it with the forks as even being bright yellow it WILL go byebyes at the hands of some little pixie that likes to hide yard stuff. Or like before someone else will just take it and use it and then say it is theirs............................................

ANYWAY................I guess I dint make much sense before and it was just a RELAXED post.....................as I just take the bucket then drag it over the concrete the 100m to his stable to get a hand if someone is about - but sharer has been trying to carry the bucket by the BROKEN handle and is adamant that you cant get the two appart despite a few folks saying you can.

yeah these new buckets can with stand the greatest of force- no joke flint picked it up by handle, kindly wacked horse tied outside over the head with it!! JOB done- bucket still intact and the horse wont stand there again
