..... how do you split your time with them?

Well actually between me and OH we have 3 and a half horses

One is currenlty being shared with a lovely ladt who rides him twice a week. The other is recovering from KS surgery and has another 8 weeks before we can work him again. One is a rising 4 year old who is currently out at grass and the other is a broodmare that I share with someone so 3 1/2 horses and nothing to ride how sad

I have to say that I'm hoping for 3 in a couple of years - like to buy a youngster once we have our own land but wouldn't do it for a few years yet....

I have three (until next weekend when owner comes to take back daughter's loan pony

) I have to say I found it very much harder through the winter than two - two is so easy!

Luckily I can ride and lead all three so exercising everyday isn't a problem (although getting on is tricky with two lead horses as is doing the gates!)

I have my old TB mare who hasn't been ridden for a while....due to pressure of work originally, then to owner laziness

And I also have a rising 4yo who was going to be broken this summer, but is teething (slightly sore mouth at the moment) and is very croup high still, so may not be.
And I also have a rising 3yo who won't be doing anything aside from inhand walkies until next year.
What a great thread....

I had three, three years ago and it killed me as I was on DIY and work full time.

Sold my youngster and had great fun with two. Unfortunately, my pony passed away and now have just one, which has come at the right time as I was in an RTA and there is no way that I could have coped with 3 at the moment. They say that everything happens for a reason!!

I share my 3 with my mum, one mare is retired and out 24/7 so shes pretty easy to do, one yearling and one 6yo.

Some days i just do the 6yo, other days i do all 3 and other days mum does them.

Works ok for us :-)

I have three and a half (the half is a Fallabela x Shetland and doesn't really count). I have to ride two a day every day as none of them will ride and lead, but they all live out in the summer and I have someone who helps a couple of hours a day weekdays - she rides one of them and can lunge the others which is brilliant (I work full time so I really need the help to bring in during the winter afternoons).

We had three till easter and had four until November, we keep them at home and there are two of us to see to them, although we both work full time. One is in work and one is retired, we hope to be back up to three in the next few weeks.

As from today, my collection has just grown to 9 which I look after on a daily basis, 3 of which are liveries, of which, one will be backed this summer for the owner but will stay at yard under my care, one is for schooling and ones lame. I own 6, 2 of which are big enough for me to ride and i aim to ride each every other day, 2 two year olds which will start doing a bit of seeing the world this summer, a shetland that does some lessons for a couple of friends kids, and one to be backed this summer. Also have a diy livery, which sometimes needs assistance. Along with studying for a degree, its darn hard work, but they all get on really well, and so the majority of the time spending time with them is easy

Sometimes i do feel a little guilty as there are times where they 2 year olds dont get as much attention, but they never seem to mind as long as they get a cuddle everyday. It is impossible to also hold down a job over the winter though, so live off student loan then! hehehe (and im still looking for a summer project to sell on once backed/fixed

)

i have 4 but 3 of which are 1 , 3 and 3 years old so their out at grass but check them daily big guy is at a livery yard whitch is a 40 mile round trip !! so maily drive ..

I have four which I keep at home, and its flippin hard work.
With the weather being so changeable at the moment, its sometimes difficult to decide who to exercise before the next shower, who gets a tail wash, who gets a really good groom instead of a quick flick....
Roll on the summer for more daylight and hopefully some better weather!

I had three not long ago, it was bloody hard work! My sister took over my cob and I had the two skatty things, the TBx had its vetting prior to me buying it(was on loan with view to buy) and she had arthritic changes in her hocks and wasn't able to do what I wanted to do, so she sadly went back.
Now I have 1 1/2, as I now share the cob with my mum. It's so easy. Saying that though we're upping the numbers somewhat when we move to somewhere with land....Oh joys!

we have a far few more than three an only one rideable, who i never have the time to ride.

when i had three ridden an nothing else on livery. i did morning feeds
turnout two,
muck out three
ride one then turn them out

hay an water
then last bring all in
ride one
groom and rugs
eve feeds

who ever wasnt ridden that day was ridden next morning, morning horse ridden in eve then eve horse had day off it that makes sense

i wouldnt even put down what we do now
