If you have three is it only a matter of time

I only count the ones that I can see so I have 4 in one field and four in another. Then sometimes I remember the ones on loan so that's another 2.

I did sell some this year as I was determined to cut down but then bought a little mule because she is so cute. I have wanted a mule for a while so I also bought a large yearling donkey jack so that I can eventually breed a bigger mule. Then I saw a mule - free to good home - and I couldn't resist!

I thought that was it but while looking through ads last week I saw a beautiful Connemara x Irish cob 3yo gelding. Went to see him and he's now in my field! Hoping to ride him next year. The others are either small or youngsters, some homebred.

My OH would divorce me if he knew the truth but I usually find excuses when he - eventually - notices an extra one. The ears on the donkey were hard to miss! :D

I have two and have a third in the field who im looking after. I have had three on and off over the summer as projects. But I have struggled to give attention to all three. Im quite happy with my two welshy ladies. :D

7 years ago mum and I got an older horse to share as our first horse, then I decided I wanted to do a bit more than she could perhaps do so we got number 2 a young mare for me to bring on and have some fun with - supposed to sell her after that but 4.5 years down the line don't think that is going to happen ;-) Then older mare had to be retired and had already toyed with the idea of putting her in foal as she has good conformation, amazing temperament and quite good breeding for an unraced TB, so put her in foal, last summer baby was born so that made 3. When I moved to another yard for work, I started riding YM horse to get him ready for sale, and yes you guessed it I fell completely in love with him and a couple of months ago he became number 4! I didn't need or particularly want another but sometimes things just fall into place and you make it work, he is such a special horse and I've had trouble with my mare in the past and he is reintroducing the fun element into competing again and helping my riding so improving my work with my mare. I love them all to pieces and I dare anyone to say that you can't love them all. I'm lucky enough to have a supportive family and YM who help me out in many ways if/when I need it.
I do think you start collecting after number 2, but as long as you have the facilities and willing to give them all the love, care and attention they need, I don't see a problem with it - although I would say that ;-)
