If you need reading glasses to use your phone

I dont know about that. I used to ride in mine. Then I started to ride with no specs, but with reading glasses in my pocket. Recently I have ridden in varifocals. The same I wear all the time. I used to keep an old pair for riding but they went a bit yellow and I dont want to spoil my view. Apparently that happens if one chooses plastic lenses, which I did for riding.

If you have previously struggled with varifocals, try a pair of tailor-made varifocal lenses. Very easy to adapt to. Get used to wearing them day to day and then try wearing them when you are riding. If you buy them from Specsavers you can return them within 100 days if you are not happy with them.
Thank you but I'm sorry I cannot just change my glasses. They are only a few months old. I have used bifocals for about 30 years and didn't need to ride with glasses until about 10 years ago. I did try to ride in them but they make me dizzy. I am prone to vertigo and retinal migraines.

Thank you. I see. I need distance lens for riding though.
Specsavers would have put any prescription in the lenses. It was a bit trial and error for me. I ended up finding the reading bit was best. You might do okay with the distance prescription. It's such an individual thing. Hope you find a solution.

A monocle? Don't laugh. You can get them on a cord to wear around your neck, they're lightweight and will lay flat. Tuck inside your top layer. They come up to +4 dioptre and are available cheaply. You'll always knowc where it is and hopefully you won't need to be reading for long enough to get headachey from only using one eye.

Edited to add: you should be able to 'wiggle' up your distance glasses enough to be able to use the monocle withoiut having to take off your hat.

🤣 Sorry. I couldn't help myself.
I would never have thought of that. I've just tried reading with one eye. I can!
