Where would you look?

I'm looking for more work over the summer but not sure of where to advertise, it's expensive so I dont want to be paying to advertise in places that people dont look!

Atm I'm regestered with Yard and Groom, Nags n Nannies, Career Grooms and have a advert on the BGA website. I have ads in local tack shops, robinsons and the local news agents.

I've not had one person call me, what am I doing wrong lol?! Do you think it's worth paying to up adverts up or is it all down the word of month and recommendation?

Word of mouth is the way I get most of my clients for grooming etc.

What about do a postal drop - to all the yards you can think of in your area. Detailing your services, rough idea of costs etc.

A lot of it is down to word of mouth and once you get in with one person and they are happy, they tell others and you are well away.
Dont be shy, go into yards etc and tell them who you are, make up some flyers on your computer, nothing too special and as you are driving around just pop in and drop one off. This is a good place to meet people and start talking as well.
Private yards are the best to get in and say hello. Do you have your advertise your prices and what are they? Dont be limited just to yard work and riding. Advertise clipping, mane/tail pulling etc if you can do them.

I found my last horse job on polotimes website. I think word of mouth and the sites you have got should be enough to be honest, maybe look on sites like gumtree as well.

Remember a lot of people are cutting back on spending at the moment, and grooms and nannies are one of the easiest areas. I dont think there is any point in spending money looking for a job, if people want to employ someone they will advertise.

Maybe speek directly to some local riding schools and freelance instructors? They will know a lot of the horses in the area.

On yard and groom did you do the free advert or the upgrade (i think about £15) that puts you on the top of the list? It may be worth paying the £15 if you haven't already, I did this and got loads of emails/calls from it. I think otherwise, because there are so many people on there looking for jobs that you may not get noticed.
