Have watched a poor horse suffer an inadequate rider using spurs. Blood / sores /scarring which never healed cos soon as he rode again he opened up the wound. Basically he was a very unbalanced rider who rode with his toes sticking out all the time. He had no control over his aids so should never have worn spurs at all! Was glad when he sold the poor Tb. I wouldn't wear spurs until I felt I could control my legs enough so that the spurs only made contact with the horse when I wanted them to and I knew how to use them correctly. Its not the equipment at fault its definitely the rider!
