If you were in the market to buy a new horse what would you buy and why?

I'm constantly on the look out for a new pony, mainly because i would love another, but can't afford to buy one :( but would love a 17hh Irish Sports Horse, Grey Mare, to do a bit of eventing and a lot of dressage :)

I would like a lovely, chunky (not in-hand show type) 14.2 ish Arab mare - about 8 years old. Lovely.

Or a Connemara - same size, age, gender.

Love my Arabs & Connie mares.

I spent a while looking for a New Forest that was good to hack and ready to hunt but alas I was clearly expecting too much! I did come close(ish) when I found a Welsh Section D who was an absolute dream but so was the price tag!

Speaking of dreams... an ex 4 star event horse would be spiffing ;)

Another Arab, no different from the one I've got, stunning but not typey, clever, fast, funny and a challenge (in a good way!).

Well, most probably the next horse I get will be a baby from Ireland to bring on and sell. But if I was buying one for myself I would look for a good stocky Hunter type (16hh ish) to take me over the biggest of our country! :D

I don't think i'll ever buy another horse, somehow I ended up with 4, admittedly two of them are midgets so don't count but 2 are definitely rideable sorts.
If I were to rewind 6 years with the benefit of hind sight I would be looking for a safe sensible hack that will turn a hoof to whatever is asked, probably a bit older and wiser than I went for initially. However, I have ended up with a pretty safe all rounder and a beautiful youngster who's 3 and ready for me to climb on board this year, more by luck than judgement I've been lucky. I'd never go hot or warm blood because I'd think, in all honesty, that i'd over horsed myself.

A safe 8 year old 14.2 bay connemara. Or section D. Or new forest. Not found any of those yet.

Or a 14hh fjord if I ever find one of those!

Proper upper-level eventing schoolmaster for my sister to learn the ropes on.

Mildly optimistic as our budget would be about £1!

Heheh, I trawled this thread in the hope that someone would be hankering after the type of horse I currently have for sale, but sadly nobody seems to want his type!

If I was buying a horse (and if we sell the youngster, we might be tempted) I would be looking for my OH, would need to be 16hh+ and a heavyweight but prefer not feathered, Shire X TB would be perfect, need to be a gelding and thoroughly nice person, OH is bold and brave so not ploddy!
