You only had £3000 and wanted a good allrounder or potential good all rounder what would you expect conformation wise.

ie there is no such thing as a perfect horse but what would you consider as reasonable faults for the money or lack of it would you accept pigeon toes, long pasterns, brushing, straight hocks etc

I ask because of my other post about the horse I like which is young unfit, unbalanced, appears straight at halt but brushes top of front hooves ??

I am guessing a vet would advise against it????? just because they are being so careful nowadays
 
This cost me 2700 with full english tack and rugs, and only 3 months ago.

she has a few slight conformational fualts but nothin serious.

£3,000 is a perfectly reasonable amount of money to be spending on what you're looking for.

As for conformation. Well it could have 6 legs, or it could be perfect. It's about what you go and see, what passes the vet, and how good your eye is.

Expect the best - why wouldn't you??

I think its the extent of the conformation faults that would determine whether I'd chance it. Long pasterns I wouldn't like, or poor feet, but slight pidgeon toes, straight hocks etc I'd take a chance on if the horse was sound.

I would think you'll find what you want around 15.1 if you aren't after a "competition horse". You should get a capable half-pony type with reasonably good conformation IMO.

My horse cost me £2350 2 years ago, 10 year old 15.2 papered well bred sec D. Did need a fair bit of schooling but had only been used as a hack by previous owner so not really his fault. We now do showing, RC stuff, hunting etc.

They are out there - and the truth is that a lot of horses advertised are very overpriced imo. Try word of mouth locally and tack shops etc rather than the big websites.

Thanks but 15.1 is too small. They are not what I am looking for ie the 10yr old have never jumped, and the 5 year old have welsh in him and daft as it is have had som much bad luck with welshies decided to steer clear this time. Also too far away from me
I am going to change my wanted height as having tried a few realise I do want something more 16h
