How much approx would you be prepared to pay for a 14hh coloured, aged about 9 which is quiet and suitable for hacking, bit of jumping and showing? I see some bigger ones going for just over £3000, do they actually sell for that?

What sort of people buy the smaller ones for themselves as i imagine lots of them could be too strong for a child and there wouldn't be such a market for them. Just pondering really and would appreciate your thoughts.

Depends just how safe and steady he is i guess! If he was suitable for a total novice then you could get a decent amount for him. Going to guess around £2000 assuming totally safe, maybe more if well marked as coloured horses are the fashion atm. Shame he isnt bigger - sounds nice!

Why would he need to be bigger though? The smaller ones carry a lot of weight too, yet the bigger ones seem to be more popular.

My friend paid £3500 for her coloured 13.3 Irish cob
he is a diamond safe as houses but works so well naturally round is lovely lovely lovely... but she paid this 2 yrs ago... the prices now should be a bit less but do seem to have picked up a bit so maybe between £2000-£3000

LOL, just because of height. Mosly adults wanting safe cobs and *most* would be looking for bigger than this - hence price goes up, Supply and demand!
