...and the owner said it was backed, but not ridden away what would you expect? Pony in question has had a complete novice child on her back and been led on a lead rein in walk and trot, I have also sat on her and walked her about. She has not left the yard. How would you describe this pony to potential loaner/purchaser?
 
an extremley green project!!! personally I like to buy them like this as I can bring them on how I want to and not have to undo other people's mistakes. BUT the market you are aiming at is going to be full of people expecting a schoolmaster for a pony of that type.
 
Owner has made it very clear to the people that want to come and view (I was there), and they sound experienced. They want the pony for pony club which would be great for the mare. Mare in question is 4 year old sec B. Should add that pony has been foot perfect so far, and when I say novice child, he can't do rising trot yet (have only done a few strides in trot to save ponies back).
 
Sorry, not really sure what you are trying to say? Are you concerned about the pony, or the purchaser? It is obviously not your pony??

Sounds like the pony is green but very quiet.
 
No not my pony, but on my yard and I really like her and want her to get a good home. Was just curious as to how to describe her progress?
Pony is a little star, hasn't put a foot wrong (yet!), and been one of the easiest equines I have had the pleasure to help back!
Fully expect purchaser to turn up expecting pony to walk/trot/canter hack etc which she is not ready for although I did a ride and lead with her on my cob today and she saw quite a few 'scary' things without reacting at all.
 
When selling ponies I pay much more attention to the parents than the rider. If this pony was going to an experienced home that understands that they would have to do much more training with the pony then I would sell it. If it was going to non-horsey parents that expect something that you can just get on I wouldn't...
