selling something on ebay - for instance a set of boots or a numnah - would you wash/clean them before posting out? Received a 'white' numnah today that I bought - it was filthy - covered in grease and grime from previous horse - gross - or perhaps i'm just a bit finicky!!!!!

I clean everything i sell before it goes out and i would expect things to be delivered like that too!!! I would leave them bad feedback personally!!

God thats bad! Even when i lend a bit or something to friends i always make sure its clean first & would expect it to come back that way aswell!!

I would be disgusted as I would never send something like that so wouldnt dream of receiving anything in that condition!
Definately leave them feedback that says it was not clean!

With things like strangles going round, I'd really expect it to be cleaned first, mention it to them first and if they don't applogise profusely... negative feedback.... What was the pic like when you bid on it?

That is terrible I would slate that seller. I would never dare sell anything dirty. If I borrow friends equipment it is always returned immacualte. Its so good they often offer it to me

I am an E-bay veteran and i always clean stuff as well as i can get it before sending, this isn't on that the seller left it filthy,if she put in the auction that it would be sent in a dirty condition then you can't really leave bad feedback as it's stated about it's condition but it's unlikely she did so definatley leave a not so happy feedback and then it might teach her to be less lazy when selling items.

I definatly would unless it had never been put on the horse or still in the package.

I would give the seller NEGATIVE feedback for this, unless they said it would be sold unclean, common decencey (sp?) to sell it clean I think.

The ad said 'Could do with a wash' - but I didn't think that meant ME doing the washing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TBH it looked fairly clean on the top side - no picture of the underside....... which was fairly grubby to say the least.

Well to be honest that wording in NO WAY inplies SHE would be washing it for you!

Number one rule with ebay, if in doubt, ask!
I would have asked her if she would be washing the item before sending it based on the wording you say was in the ad.

Unless the condition wasnt mentioned, or it was stated as clean or unused, then I dont think you have reason to leave negative feedback.

Am not planning on leaving negative feedback - just think it should have been sent out clean whether the ad said that or not - as someone else has already said, could be spreading strangles (unlikely) or ringworm (very likely). Perhaps my standards are just much higher than theirs.

Sadly after reading the advert I don't think you really can leave her negative feedback as she has said that it needs a wash.

However, in response to your question - everything I sell I thoroughly wash first and would be really embarrassed to send something out in the condition you received!

oh yes ditto, I would never send something out dirty either, but if you were that concerned about strangles/ringworm and the ad said it could do with a wash, then wouldnt it have made sense to ask her if she would wash the item before sending it?

LOL just playing devils advocate.

you're probably right - am quite new to this ebay lark - have been selling but not buying - it just didn't occur to me that it wouldn't be washed before sending out because I would never do that myself!! - TBH I thought she meant 'it could do with a wash' in the way that 'if it looks a bit grubby in the pic it's because... it could do with a wash'!!!!!
