Was thinking the other day "if i won the lottery" (as you do)!
As well as the house with stables, land, indoor & outdoor school and all that Jazz.
Was thinking, i'd still love to keep Tottie and get proper lessons and do some real schooling with her.
So would like to think that i wouldnt cast her aside for a more expensive/desireable/expertly trained horse.
Dont get me wrong, id perhaps buy a nice chunky cob to have fun on, but the point im making is id still like to try and do it all myself as much as i could, rather than sending her off or paying some else to do the hard work, or worse still selling her completely for a 'better' model.
Same goes that id still like to do all the mucking out and everything that comes with owning horses.

So my question is, if you came in to some money, would you still keep, school, train your current horses, or would you think sod it, im gonna buy that appy, ISH, WB etc, etc and retire/sell my current horse?
How much do you think money would change you??

Pointless question, but im one of the few people who are at work today :( so am bored! (finish in half an hour tho - yay - nice hack in the rain today i think)!

I'd spend my money on training rather than an experienced horse.
If I was to buy another one I think I'd go for something that's a little green and needs educating. I've never had an "experienced" horse and I'm happy like that! :)

If I came into money I'd keep Lil because I've only had her a month and she has bags of potential.

I'd pay off the morgage first so we weren't crippled by our huge monthly costs and then buy a nice little 3.5ton lorry. The rest would go on lessons and competing. I'm not that fussed about having posh tack or anything, would just love to be able to ride and compete without thinking about budgets.

First thing, I would buy my field, build my house in the middle with:
*indoor sand school
*outdoor sand school
*race track
*American type stables, with heating.
*swimming pool for the horses.
*weight scales for the horses.
*have them all school/trained by a top pro.
*huge hay barn
*huge tack room
*huge feed room
*Perfect fencing
*have a wedding business with the horses.

That's not just the lottery, I think you've married Peter Jones!

i'd keep the ones i have and just add to them, and try to bribe my trainer to come to England and be based in my snazzy phenomenal new yard, of course...
i'd like to think it wouldn't change me, other than that i'd be delirious with happiness for the rest of my life, and able to be really generous.
the list of things i'd buy is extensive but starts with a Ketterer...!

I would firstly pay off my debts!! Then I would pay my parents mortgage off, and my sister's mortgage off. I would give some to OH, so he can put it into his business (he said he would never stop work). I would also give a donation to BHS, as without them, we wouldn't have the support us horsey peeps need!!
Then comes the fun bit:
1) Buy a house.. nothing too big, but something that has some land, stables etc. I would have about 10 stables, so I could rent them out, and run my own livery yard (my dream).
2) Buy Horlicks (of course!) and also Pudding (a little coloured pony on yard), for my little niece's.
3) Buy a hunter type for my OH to enjoy.
4) Buy my Ford Kuga (I love these 4x4 type cars)
5) Buy my OH his Range Rover
6) Buy my converted Renault Master Horsebox

Then enjoy my life! I would never give up work, hence wanting to open my own livery yard.
Better go get my ticket!!!!!

I'm not bothered about a big house, i have no need for one. I would just buy a nice little cottage somewhere quiet and spend the rest on horses! Oh, no, i would have to buy a snazzy car too. And of course i would buy my parents a nice house away from their crazy neighbours, and my grandparents a nice bungalow nearby. Would give OH some, not sure what he would spend it on.

Would want about 8 stables in a little contained yard with lots of land and an indoor and outdoor school (although planning permission for an indoor is probably a problem lottery win or not!). Would buy a couple of arabs, and my dream mare who i help out with at the moment. Maybe a nice fun whizzy pony, i think everyone should have one :D Oh, and maybe a PRE to learn classical dressage on, and the instruction i would soo need lol. Probably a little lorry and the bloomin license to drive one.

Since i don't have my own horse at the moment it's hard to say how much i would change, but i wouldn't be spending silly money on horses that are out of my league. I don't compete so would just buy horses that i got on with and could have lots of fun and nice long hacks with. Now... need to get my lottery ticket bought for this week. Come on Euros!!! :D

Hmmm what a nice thought! Firstly I would go part time at work, pay off ours, my sisters and sister in laws mortgages. Then:
  • Buy a nice house with spland
  • Definately without a shadow of a doubt keep George
  • Keep George where he is as we love it there and I only want 1 horse
  • Buy a little 3.5T lorry so I can really get out and about
  • Have some extra lessons / training

Ah well we can but dream :D

I would stop work and get a cleaner! :D

I would keep Star where she is, on DIY, but I would send her for some proper schooling - just to sort out the 'wrinkles' which I'm struggling with - would make life nicer for both of us.
I'd move me and OH into the smart hotel at the bottom of the road as well, and get the house redecorated throughout.
I'd buy a little lorry.

I'd have fun :D

I'd pay off my mortgage and my parent's, put money aside for the girl's education and then I would treat myself to a fun pony to whizz about the countryside on. It would be nice to have the money in a few years to get number one duaghter a real quality sport horse and a super duper lorry if she is still serious about competing. But I would stay at my yard as I am happy there and I would be tempted to buy a Friesian and compete properly at dressage. I can but dream!

I pay off all debts and family's mortgages. Buy my sis the stud farm thats for sale near her. knock our house down and rebuild it with barn stables and indoor school attached buy some more land. have horse walker and have lessons. And give up work so that I could spend more time with my horses

buy a nice little house with stables and land, then get my daughter the little welsh sec a shes been wanting, buy my loan horse digit as shes ace then just be happy and enjoy

Ahh its nice to see that even though we are all from different walks in life we all pretty much want the same things!!
I think Lotto ticket sales will be going up this weekend end too buy the sound of things! Lol!

I'd by a large stable yard with 20 boxes, 25+ acres of well drained pasture, indoor school, lunge ring and access to off road hacking that I would let a friend manage.

A 3.5t lorry, a school master and a Highland pony, I'd have loads of lessons and compete once a week.

I'd give up work, have a newly decorated 3 bed bungalow on site and pay for a cleaner.

I'd also pay off my brothers mortagage and buy my parents a new house.

-Great dressage horse preferably a dressage school master :D
-Pay for livery
-Some l-o-v-e-l-y tack and clothes for me
-You think money can buy som hot tottie? ;)

:D

I would keep Bodey, and still carry on as I am now (have my weekly lessons, and out competing every weekend). However I would also buy a whole herd of Bodey Gypsy Cobs, to bring on and have fun with. I have no aspirations to have more then my cobs, as they are me!:)

I would keep my mare and put her in foal (waits to be shot down for indiscrimante breeding!!! so i would like to add my mare is very well put together has decent bloodlines and a very sweet temperment we would also find the perfect parnter who compliments her 100% and the foal would have a forever home) i would go on the hunt for the perfect horse for me and obviously i would have everything build to panda to the needs of my very wimpy gelding

Id buy a big lorry with huge living so we could all party at the shows and I would buy one of those horrid 3.5 ton toy lorrys to keep chickens in!!!!! then a big equestrian center with huge indoor areana put in a decent surface in that suits reining , hire a great trainer and have some serious shows........ and id try and help a few folk that are trying to get on but realy strugling it would be nice to be able to have something to share round...

*ahem* Some of us are extremely happy with their horrid 3.5ton toy lorry thanks very much!! :D
Even though I can drive a 7.5t I wouldn't! My cob would just fall over in it (I've tried)

I would keep my boy, but also buy a 15.2 MW ISH type who'd done some eventing and could show me the ropes :D
I'd buy the land down the road from me, build a little yard, an indoor and outdoor school and an XC course.
I'd also get:
- A 7.5 ton Oakley
- Some nice tack...Elevator bridles :D
- Thermatexes in my colours...ahh
- My instructor coming twice a week instead so I could improve more :)
- A new house for my mum- or get ours renovated.

I don't want much ;) :D Lol

Well depending on how much I won, I would buy myself a lovely 5 bedroomed house with a nice paddock so I could open my blinds in the morning and see my boys grazing. I wouldn't want many stables, just 4 or 5. Enough for my 2 and a few extra so my friends could come for a sleepover and bring their horses too. An indoor and outdoor school would be nice as well, with lots of jumps for us to practise on. Would like a bit of land besides the paddock so I could build a nice X Country course for me and my friends to blast around now and again.
I wouldn't sell my boy as he is perfect for me. We do everything I aspire to do, I love him, he loves me back, I trust him, he trusts me in return. He is my horsey soulmate. I wouldn't sell my Shetland either, he's my boy's best friend and great fun for my little nieces to ride when they come to visit. I would buy my daughter a pony to have a bit of fun on and I would also buy my sis a horse as she is absolutely desperate to have her own.

I'd buy a nice fancy horse lorry with living so we could get out and about in comfort and a top of the range 4x4 to nip to the local shops! :D

I'd pay my sister's mortgage off and buy my other sis a house. Would also put a large amount of money into a trust fund for both my children.
Wouldn't give up work completely, would probably go part time, maybe work 2 or 3 days a week. I wouldn't employ anyone to look after my horses, would still do them all myself, but I would definitely hire someone to do my cleaning! :D

Hmmmm.....I need to win millions! Best buy that ticket tomorrow! lol

I would buy a nice 16.2hh Grey IDxTB mare (coz I can be picky) I would move her too full livery but will prob want the odd day DIY coz I will miss mucking out etc.

I would then buy a nice Lorry and go eventing and team chasing and hunting when I wanted.

I would keep my boy and buy a nice London Trolley to go behind him and a nice set of english leather harness, suppose he can have a leather saddle too, made to measure.

Then I would buy a house for me. Suppose I better get a new car too. And then find a richer husband :D :D Dont really want a lot.
