That might sound like a pretty stupid question. But my friends YO isnt at all!! In any way, shape or form! It makes me wonder what makes non-horsey folk start livery yards....

Our YO isn't horsey, his daughter & dad has horses on the yard, but him himself isn't horsey so we have a YM who runs it for him. He does the bills & takes the dosh & she runs it.

Going by the attitude of a non-horsey person that I know, they think it's an easy way to earn loadsamoney very quickly.

He was very disappointed when I pointed out the realities of owning/running a livery yard! :D

No owner is not horsey at all.

It is a large DIY yard. There isn't a yard manager either. Yard owner takes advice on certain things e.g. fields, herd groups etc. from one or two knowledgeable people and seeks advice from vet re: worming. Not perfect but seems to work most of the time. There is a handyman who fixes fencing, moves muck-heap etc.

Ours isn't either, he's a farmer who had a couple of fields & a few stables and just decided to rent them out.
I wouldn't dream of even asking him to hold my horse as he hasn't a clue!
Obviously the bonus is that he leaves us to it, produces his own straw/hay/haylage & cares for our paddocks.
Oh and the horses are 100% cow proof as the cows are in the barn behind our stables with windows!

No not at all
Our Yard Owner just happens to have stables and he has a few DIY liveries in them.
He has nothing to do with us, we do our own thing. which I like :)

Yes very, its one of the Westropps afterall :) she's a lovely lady and doesn't interfere at all, but is a fountain of knowledge if you ask her for help and she will always be happy to help you. she has a very good way with horses too, for some reason they all seem to turn very calm when she's next to them, they do whatever she asks without her raising her voice even the slightest, it is amazing to watch :)

Nope, he doesn't have a clue really bless him. My horse and her field mates were running round bucking the other day and he said something like "they keep doing cartwheels .." He's kind to them when he is around them, will give them a stroke and maybe some treats if he has anything they can have but I wouldn't dream of asking him to look after one :p The yard I'm moving to next week the people who run it are very horsey which I see as a good thing, I know they will help me out especially with injuries etc :)

YO isn't horsey at all but he lives on site and the house came with a few stables, he then expanded the yard and employed a very horsey YM (one with next to none people skills though!)

Yes, YO is an eventer. She has a very calm but firm way with horses. She is also an incredibly patient person with her liveries too. She ticks all the boxes and the yard is a great place with lovely liveries :)

Our yo isn't horsey.
It's a farm and they have diversified, they think horses should be treated like cows!

We have no ym, but we all get on well and don't have too many issues.

They do it for the money,
horses rake in loadsamoney don't you know!

MY YO isnt horsey anymore he used to ride but not since the 80's.
He bought a livery yard too.

Y you ask??

<<<<cos his wife is horsey in a big way :D:D:D

Mine aren't. They are wealthy people who moved to the country, bought a big house and land with stabling, which they rent to myself and two friends. Can be quite amusing as they will try to advise us on grazing management and are bewildered as to why we poo pick :D
Sometimes they get on our nerves with comments like 'the muck heap smells' Doh! and they like everything matchy matchy so we are a very tidy yard! On the whole, they leave us to get on with it.
