OK, so here goes, I've been looking for a mare 15.2hh to 16.2hh for a while now. So far I've been completely messed around by two sets of owners. I've made approximately 20 phonecalls in response to various adverts in the newspaper or on the internet I've actually got through to an owner once, the rest have been voicemail and they never ever phone back. Then out of the ones that I have emailed, probably about 10 emails out, only 2 have replied.

So my question is, if these people want to sell their horse why don't they reply to emails and phone calls or at least just answer the phone????

Its soooooooooooooooo disheartening when you've saved and looked after other peoples horses for as long as I have and you can finally see light at the end of the tunnel to have a horse of your own again and can't find one because no one ever responds to you. Surely you can at least get your ad removed from the paper or have sold written on it on the internet if you've sold it??????????

And to top it all off, I can provided at least 5 references to say that it is a 5* home!!!!!!!!

All I want is a horsey (mare) of my own to grow old with and I never ever dreamed it would be as hard as it has been to find one.

Sie la vie, I think I'm going to admit defeat and give up!!!!!

I would hazard a guess that it probably means they have been sold........... i do agree that it is rude not to call you back but if neddy is sold they dont get anything out of being polite!

im sure you'll find neddy of your dreams soon!

Just keep persevering, you'll find the horse you want eventually. I agree that it's certainly rude not to return your calls, even if it's only to say sorry it's sold.

I can't understand why you aren't getting replies though because from reading various posts it appears that many sellers are having a real hard time getting anyone interested in their horses & infact are reducing prices

You'll find the right one soon, stick with it, you've waited along time to get one & when you do just think how you are going to feel!

It is quite rude, even if it is sold in fact. All they would have to do is get the ad taken down.

Got a very nice 14.2hh slightly crippled jumping beast if you want it!!

Have to agree with you there. I don't understand people at all. I spent 3 weeks emailing and phoning someone who was advertising a bridle that I wanted to buy. I gave up in the end. And have to agree about removing adverts once whatever-it-is has been sold. There's nothing more irritating than "SOLD!!!!" all over an ad.

Has to be 15.2 + so the OH can ride it too!!! I'm happiest when I ride my friends 13.2hh mare who thinks she's a racehorse!!!!!!!!! LOL!!!!

He's been a "Professional"!!!!!!!!!!!! Except I'm a better rider than him obviously as I have more patience!!! I love dressage and showing off in an outline and he loves jumping - he's from a BSJA background worked for various dressage and jumping riders so he looks down his nose at anything I've seen thats in my budget!!!!! I have to remind him that I don't have £100,000 to spend on a horse for him to ride!!!! He's a horse transporter now though so doesn't get much riding in any more - no bad thing as I don't really want to share whatever mare I end up with!!!!!

I just want to hack, school, do clear round, dressage and fun rides and maybe a hunter trial or two - never done hunter trials, just want to see if I've got the guts for it.

I've been a race horse groom, polo groom, grew up breeding and showing welsh cobs to county level. Recently been riding a gorgeous Knaubstrupper stallion for someone and another friends 17.2hh TB and been riding the 13.2hh mentioned above and her field mate a 15.1hh Conemara X who I took to dressage at the weekend and came 4th and 5th with them both. It was only a low key thing at a local livery yard but the two ponies haven't been schooled in at least two years and hadn't been ridden for three weeks. So you can see why the owners and I were soooooooooooooooo very pleased with the ponios!!!

Buying is as stressful as selling i think personally, last year it drove me mad, 6 months till I found a horse then he went back 3 months later.

My current horse found me, best way lol
