Has anyone else experienced the breech bar at the back of their trailer buckle when horse leaned on it pulling the back partition off. This happened to me after loading one horse and was about to load another. It could have been worse if it had happened in transit. Company say this is a design feature!!!! so that the trailer breaks before the horse. I can see that if the horse was being silly or in a panic, but she was just balancing herself and slipped a little, it happened to easily for my liking. I am hoping Ifor Williams are going to replace the partition as surely it must be fault to break so easily.
Would like to hear others experiences if this has happened to them.

That's terrible. Those bars are there to support the full horses weight, to protect them from hitting the ramp or the front of the tailer. Like you say, thank god you weren't in transit, imagine the bars collapsing in an accident or ramp failure. I thought that was the idea of being able to drop them from outside via the allan key. I would not be a happy bunny.

we have an Ifor Williams and have not had any issues with the partition or breach bars at all- despite travelling a lot of boisterous youngsters.

what model do you have?

I assume your talking about the 506 or 511?

Would be interested as I have a 505 & can't see how the bars can fail, but wouldn't want that happening!.

I had a back breach bar break, not the actual bar but the hook at the end snapped. The horse I was travelling paniced broke the bar and lifted the back of the partition off. It landed under my horse who luckily was a good boy and didn't move. We have fixed the breach bar by welding the hook back on. My trailer was new and is a 510.

Ridiculous Cob bend one of the breeching bars, but she's done it to every bar she's had - she's the most appalling traveller.

We have a 511 and not sure they managed to pull the partition off? Was it on straight? It's only when it's swung out to an angle that it can be lifted off. when it's on straight there is a lip on the centre pole that stops it lifting off. Unless they broke the actual pins off the partition fixture?

Have seen centre pole in friend's 511 put in upside down so pins were useless and partition able to pop out without being swung back  Hopefully IW will replace partition for you as under a year. Really suprised that the bars have a weakness as have seen our 12.2 pony try to jump out of the trailer and get stuck on the breast bar. Managed to free herself before we could undo the bar with the allen key. Bar + pony were fine and not damaged.

Yes every thing was in the right place. The pins bent and the catches on the centre pole bent enough for the back partition to come off. It all happened very quickly and with great ease to my horror.
