Needing to replace one of the panels on my old 1999 Ifor 505. Has anyone replaced the panel themselves if so how difficult was it and how long did it take them. Ifor are quoting me £468 to supply & fit replacement panel. Trailer probably isn't even worth double that!!

Thanks

Last summer we had the same problem the outside of the panels had rotted but the inside were solid. We left the panels in and covered the bottom quarter with galvanised metal chequered plates.

OH and I did it in a day. Remove the partition including centre pole (otherwise it holds the roof tight in place), breech/breast bar fittings, then all the panels along the inside wall (there is more there than you realise). Remove all the little bolts from the upside-down U-shapes of the trailer frame. Remove enough rivets from the roof part of the trailer frame to give you some flex on the roof. Then lift and slide out.
Slide new one in, do all the above stuff in reverse order.

It's scarey to start but easy once you get into it.

Covering bottom quarter with galvanised metal chequer plates would have been quicker ... just watch how much they weigh and whether, with 2 horses on board (if you carry 2 rather than 1) that you don't end up over your MAM (2340kg for a 505?).
