please could you give me your experience of the 506 and opinions?

basically i would like to know how easy they are too tow, how well the sit on the road and any negatives? i would be towing one horse (nervous traveller) and once he is more comfortable i would need to know that i could manage to get out somewhere and back on my own. obviously i asked the salesman when i spoke to him and hes assured me that they are very solid on the road and that as they are so light inside the horse should be quite comfortable and that i could do everything on my own.

can anyone answer my questions please?
 
Bought one new dec 09, got two 16.hh plus horses travels fine in it but one horse paws flor a lot and worn hole in mat, and at moment in contact with them as front panel come away from panel where side ramp is, hubby has restuck it and put more screws in it, apparently no other trailer had this problem wait to see how good customer service is! Tows fine behind x trail and horses seem fine in it, not as well made as 505 but needed higher trailer to take tall horse, and apart from current problem been happy with it.
 
I've got one and love mine. Tows really nicely, I am nearly always on my own when I tow and often tow two on my own. Ramps are easy to lift, horses are chilled the other end, mines been taken 3 hours plus on journeys to big shows and horses are fine with this.
 
When I was trailer shopping I had originally considered an odor Williams. But what put me off was that i thought the new ones were not as well built as the older ifors. The overall build seemed tinny in comparison and the aluminium floor is very thin and I had heard rumours that it can feel a bit bouncy under foot when travelling.
I bought a Richardson ,which I love! No rattles,plenty of room,superior suspension for smooth ride,a solid quality plastic floor with a lifetime garuentee ,and toes like a dream.

Would need a B+E licence to tow this trailer unless it is downplated and used with an apropriate vehicle for B licence towing

SUPERVISING A B+E LEARNER
In April 2010 new rules were introduced for those supervising certain learner drivers but they only affected those supervising VOCATIONAL categories such as C1 C1+E D1 & D1+E where the supervising driver had those categories given to them for free when they passed a pre 1997 car test.
They do not affect those with a pre 1997 B+E licence who wish to supervise a B+E learner.
All B licence holders have B+E provisional on the paper part of their licence and can tow an empty or loaded trailer on all roads including motorways.
The usual rules apply when a learner is driving -
The supervising driver must be aged over 21
The supervising driver must have held a B+E licence for at least 3 years
L plates must be fitted to the front of the vehicle and the rear of the trailer
Correct insurance for a B+E learner

I have one and love it, although my dad has scraped it putting it back in to the shed, I was furious. I've had it since 2010.

ROG, re getting it downplated, I thought the trailer had to be under 750kgs to tow without a b+e?

Many think that but it is incorrect

Towing can be done on a B licence under certain rules - plenty of examples in the HHO TOWING CLINIC thread - link below in my signature

Re getting a trailer downplated - contact manufactuer and they will give you their nearest dealer who will do it for very little cost or for free :)

If you have a vehicle and trailer set up you think might conform to B licence towing then please please please post that query in the towing clinic so that all those sorts of things can be in the same place and others can also read - thank you
