I really like the look of the HBX trailers, but can't help noticing just how many 'barely used, only had a horse in it once' HBXs come back to Edgemere to be sold on second hand .

Is it all the extra windows spooking the horses? I'm not sure, I would hire before you buy.

I've decided to keep my owned-from-new 2006 510 Classic.

I did wonder about the huge windows spooking the horses too

Not a lot to add but a friend hired one for the summer and travelled 3 different horses in it (inc. mine when my box battery let me down) - all travelled perfectly but are sensible types.

I suspect the barely used trailers have been purchased by people who have never towed before who didn't need to take the test. They try it a few times and hate it. The previous owner of my trailer was bought it as a present by her husband but hated towing. I also know someone who bought a new trailer and she was actually quite relieved when it was stolen as she admitted she hated towing but daren't admit it to her husband. She now hires a small box when she needs transport.

I very nearly bought one just before lockdown, but pulled out the last minute. I just didnt like the open view at the front. The rep suggested i purchase the black outs for them that they have as extras. Couldnt see the point of that, so bought the HB511 instead.

As for people selling them straight away.. it could be they are trying to make a bit of a profit. They where going for approx £7k before lockdown ive seen quite a few now advertised at £9k !!

I don't have this trailer but have experience with a Humbaur that has the same window set up, and no horses seem to pay any mind to it. An ex-fellow livery has one too, for multiple horses and actually really likes that feature for the horses and hasn't noticed the horses object either. Just some anecdotal stuff about the window design.
