I have recently traded in my 2002 ifor williams 505 (which I have had from brand new) for a 2008 510 classic as my horse was too big for the small trailer. It was bought from a main ifor dealer. Unfortunately it did leak but after a few heated emails and calls the dealers did take it back to the work shop to reseal and assured me there was no damage to the floor or panels.
We have never had any issues with loading, even though the old box was pretty small. And he's been in many types and with different drivers. Today we took him out in the new trailer for the second time and he was anxious to get on, but on our return home, he was awful and after 20 minutes, you could see the fear on his face. Luckily we were at a yard where we had a trainer (very similar to Jason Webb) who was able to do some ground work with him and we got him in. He was banging and very unhappy.
When I got home I walked the side where the horse was, and there is a dip right down the centre (you can feel and see it under the mats). If you walked to the back of the stall, you can also feel it squeaking, almost like a lose floor board. Taking the mats out are a nightmare as the clips are under the chassis. So before I do this Has any one ever heard of aluminium floors rotting or being damaged? I am not impressed to say the least that this trailer has potentially led my horse to stop loading!!!!
TIA

I have heard some really bad stories about 510 because they are more manufactured and threw together. I would personally take it back again and explain the issue and demand that it be fixed as it is a HUGE safety issue and it will still be under warranty.

I knew of someone who did similar, traded an older trailer for a new one and she had awful trouble with her previously perfectly travelled horse, he threw himself on the floor, dismantled the partitions, just not a happy boy. It turned out he didnt like the give in the ali floor, previous trailer had a wood floor, so they put ply on top and it cured it. Sorry cant comment on your floor but I would def be taking it back to be checked, creaking would make me feel uneasey too.

Thanks for replies. The trailer is 2008 but very good condition. (So we thought buying it from main dealer!!)
Both trailers were ally floor so we assumed it would give a similar ride apart from it being bigger.
I know the classics are quite rare but I have put another post on here to see whether people knew of a different ride between the classics and standard 505/510s. Just baffled how we have ended up like this :-/

I agree with the ali giving more. It is like a spring nearly and can be really unnerving. I always like to have wood down then ali on top.

Get the mats up, undoing the clips is pretty easy, then check the floor. There shouldn't be a dip in it.

I have a 2006 510 classic. Tbh, I never leave the mat clips in place. The centre partiton pole anchors the mats well enough. I lift the mats regularly to air the floor.

Lovely trailer (had it from new).

We are now unsure what to do. Of course it needs to go back to dealer but do we cut our loses now and ask for a full refund knowing that the horse will not load or get the work done (what ever it needs) and persevere? I agree it's a lovely trailer but what else will go wrong. It's already been back once due to phenomenal leaks :-(

How do you remove the mats please? We took the clip out from underneath the floor but couldn't get the bolt thing out from inside the trailer? Thanks x
