pros and cons of 505 and 510 please ,apart from obvious size. gather the newer models have movable partition , have max of £2ooo so what age, model am i likely to get and what should i be looking for. thanks sure lots of you have done this and can advise

Any particular reason you are only looking at Ifors?........have you not thought about Bateson? Well built, tow really well, less rattle, ramp opens onto pavement, they have external tie rings, twin internal saddle racks & they all take up to 17h horses.

We had a 505 and thought a 510 might be a bit more roomy although my horses are 15.2 and 16 hands. Well, we changed to the larger trailer and they didn't travel so well - seemed to find it harder to balance. So, we sold the 510 and moved back to a 505. Being smaller means the trailer also needs less room to turn around etc. Ifor Wiliams are very good trailers have you looked on their web site at the different spec.?

Ifor Williams trailers hold their value particularly well, had my 505 for 3 years and sold it for only £200 less than I paid for it. Bought a 510 has 16.2 horse was too big for the 505 (he holds himself quite upright) where as my last 16.2 was absolutely fine in the 505. Unless I needed a 510 for size reasons, I would stick to the 505, they come in a bit cheaper and are lighter to tow. The biggest difference I noticed when towing was though the 510 is wider taller and longer than the 505, the width was something I had to watch when going round roundabouts etc. Love my 510 but would have stuck to the 505 if could have (and there are more of them about so easier to buy and sell). Hope this helps

I love my 510 - never even towed before I got that and it's nice and heavy so doesn't jump around.....I think you'd struggle to find a 510 for £2000 - I had to up my money to £3000. 505 were a little cheaper and seem to be more around but wanted the big one just incase I had to transport my friends horses that are larger...

My 505 was totally immaculate and had been stored in a barn for 5 years (7 years old) and i paid £2100 for it. I was used to a 510 but it was just way too big for my 15.1h. The 505 can take up to two 16.2hh horses so there was no issue with the size

I have just got a 510 classic that was under a year old and paid £3500 for it, it is a big trailer but I have a 17.1hh so I need it.
Beware of the older Ifors as they used to have a wooden floor - now have aluminium which are alot stronger, not sure when the floors changed over but its worth checking.
