Ill / injured - or just strange behaviour?

I've booked an appointment for Scooby at the vets tonight, but just wondered if anyone had come across similar.

I have been on holiday for a fortnight, took horse and dogs to Devon to stay with a friend. A week last Friday, Scooby suddenly started behaving strangely, he was tucking his back end under him, scooting forward and diving in to corners and just sitting there, he would move if you made him - if he was a horse, you would say he had tied up. He had been groomed about 4 days before and had his anal glands done, and we checked them again and they were fine. After about 30 minutes, he seemed absolutely fine and was back to wanting to play with his sister.

He went on to do this about 5 times during the last week, I was going to take him to the vet down there, but they suggested that it would be ok to wait until I got home as he was recovering and absolutely fine between episodes. Scooby is a terrier cross about 2 years old.

Anyone seen similar? I am wondering whether it could be internal, his back, muscles or what - hopefully should have more idea tonight.

Thanks!

This could be a long shot but could he have brought a friend home? we went to devon and my tibetan ended up being covered with tics. When i first read your post i thought it sounded like the glands too.

Took him to the vet last night and he examined his coat but couldn't find anything. He appears to be slightly sore in one thigh muscle and I have got painkillers for a week then take him back. If he is still having the 'turns' then he will do a spinal x ray and possibly refer for MRI. Hopefully he has just been a bit to active and pulled a muscle!
