Whats Barnet council on? Mr Catts Cat run and play area was; IMO a lovely safe place for his cats. So, why knock it down and turn into a Building Site? Whats more vile looking in a conservation area then?
A- A £150.000 Luxury cat play area and cattery?
OR
B- A load of rubble?

That's disgusting!! Just watched the video on BBC website:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/7464265.stm
That poor guy has not only paid £150,000 but has to pay £35,000 costs and clear away a of the rubble!! I'm glad I don't live in Barnet! Stupid 'rules', who is he hurting but the stupid woman next door who says 'you know, these are big cats with big meows' WTF!!

QR I watched the video but I have no sound on my pc for that clip which is a bit frustrating but after reading the story I got the general idea.
Just sounds to me a like a case of English snobbery at its very best to be honest. If you don't live like the Jones's of this world then gawd help you to be honest.
Personally I would have had no problem at all in living next to or near a gentleman like this. He obviously cares deeply about his cats and their welfare so much that he went to great lengths to accommodate them in luxury and providing everything ( bar complete freedom) that any cat craves.
I feel really sorry for him to be honest.
I also feel sorry for his complaining neighbours though. Gosh they must lead such boring, sad and thankless lives to be wrapped up in an obvious hate ( or even jealousy) campaign such as they had for Mr Catt.
Some people really do astound me with their ideas of perfectionism and utopia. We are all on this earth together so why not just get on with it instead of bitching and moaning about every little detail.
I am so glad I do not have his neighbours. I am afraid I would have been so tempted to use cat faeces for altogether different purposes lol . Mmm speaking of which just think of how much cat shite his supposed monstrosity would have prevented from even entering their precious conserved gardens!

Mr Catt, who changed his surname, built the first of four brick buildings in June 2006 then went on to construct a further three over the next 18 months.

It was not just ariary type pens for his cats to go outand ejoy fresh air, but four brick buildings, built after being refused planning permission.
I have a large cat pen, butmine have a tunnel from the house, that looks more ike a full Cattery set up, not a play pen for pets.

he must have known that he had to have planning permission before he built them and thought he would try and get in the back door by building them and then asking for permisson.

If it wasnt a cat run but a house he had built would you still feel sorry for him? i dont.
